We had the good fortune of connecting with Uncle Dibbz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Uncle, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
With his North Carolina family roots, Georgia upbringing, and traveling the globe as a world renowned DJ, I know a lot about flavor. As a child, my mother made amazing southern cuisine in her kitchen. Seeing friends and family gather amongst the smells of his mothers cooking sparked my interest in the culinary arts. Once I left home to pursue music, I returned with an even greater appreciation of food and feeding my own friends and family. My epic backyard summer BBQ’s led to people asking “what did you put on this?!” after tasting meats fresh off my grill. I would always reply with smile “that’s a secret..”. Now you can bring the secret of The Original Uncle Dibbz Seasoning to your kitchen!
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m an example of making lemons out of lemonade. The pandemic was a big part of me shifting my purpose from music to the culinary arts but I can’t say that was the plan. I needed to survive and without being able to tour, throw events, or DJ parties I had to make a change. Instead of trying to find the “next hustle” I knew I needed to fine my true purpose. Something that I would wake up excited to work on. Food become that for me and in turn creating Uncle Dibbz seasoning I could use as well as distribute. It was a learning process and a challenge dealing with supply chain issues, not being able to be hands on due to lockdown and just the normal day to day issues we all faced during the pandemic. These challenges forced me to be more creative and resourceful in ways I haven’t had to before. Those lessons became blessings.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be here without my friends and family. Food was what brought all of us together and in good spirits since I was a child. I didn’t know at the time those experiences would lead to my true purpose. I couldn’t of done this without them!
