We had the good fortune of connecting with Valentine Ndubuike and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valentine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process was always having the mindset to work for myself in a creative aspect. I love fashion and art so why not start a business with both ventures I am passionate about.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started painting at the age of 5. My dad is also an artist so as a kid, I would always watch him paint and get inspired to paint like he did. Most of my artwork shows a sense of expression. I always make that there’s a sense of movement in my pieces. It took a lot of practice just to get to where I am at today. There are a few challenges when it comes to art for example, I spent four days just painting a face just so it can be accurate as possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to a few Nigerian restaurants. Some of my favorite Nigerian restaurants are Taste of Nigeria, Trinity Bar and Grill and Cafe Abuja. There’s also some great spots to drink at for example, Grooves, Prospect Park and Lost and Found.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my wonderful family. They’ve been my support and backbone ever since I started my traditional wear business and art business. I also wanted to shoutout my friends. I can’t name them all but you know who you are. Last but definitely not least, I want to shoutout to God. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am at today.
