We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Lillie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I started my career when I was 22 years old, I had my daughter at 30 once I had my daughter everything changed because I had to put her first.

I balance my clients/work with my daughters school and athletic activities I always put her first I schedule everything around my baby. I tend to be a little bit of a homebody so I have to force myself to go out but when I do I like to go to concerts and my daughter plays with her friends or stays with her grandmother during that time and that’s how we keep a nice healthy balance going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always been extremely creative I’ve saying I’ve written I’ve drawn. It was no surprise to me when I found out what aestheticians got to do! Once I realized I could design eyebrows and mix up recipes for facials I never looked back! And now I use the ancient art of sugaring to remove hair! It’s an alternative to wax and I love it and so do my clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Downtown Sacramento is beautiful and fun and there’s great restaurants and wonderful architecture to look at. I have to say we have a very colorful city and we have so many people moving up here from the bay area there’s lots of diversity. I would definitely take my friends to the Crocker art museum in the railroad museum Then I would take them to some of the thrift stores in town because we have some really fun ones. Then we could watch an independent film at the tower theater we have here in town that shows really cool shows that aren’t necessarily advertised. And we would have to go to my favorite restaurant in town which is Fixin‘s! This restaurant has the most amazing soul food ever! And the owner is Kevin Johnson who used to play for the Kings and who also used to be our mayor.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be the person I am If it were not for my mother. My mother has believed in me ever since I was a little girl and she still believes in me and pushes me to go beyond what I’m capable of or what I even believe I’m capable of at times. She’s my soulmate!

I would also like to mention that though my father has passed away he was the person that believed in me enough to send me to aesthetician school way back in 2003 no questions asked 🙂

Forever grateful
