We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica RONI Cabrera-Moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica RONI, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My whole career has been one risk after another. Some risks smaller than others. When I was younger taking risks was easier but after having my boys taking risks would not only affect me but them as well. There are opportunities that arise and things I need to jump on and when I’m not too sure I bring it up at dinner and ask the boys and my husband what they think and apparently my household is pretty good at taking risks!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In this journey I have had the opportunity to be present and teach in different circles. This experience has made me more humble but also a bigger dreamer! I witnessed what some areas had to offer their community and decided to create those experiences for communities like mine.
This journey has not been easy. Even though I have been walking this path for many years, it wasn’t until the past two years that I began running. I’m in a place in this journey where every decision counts and its not only my dream on the line but hopes and dreams of others around me.
Know that I do this with passion from experience. Recently I watched two young ladies paint their first murals on the Art Center I am creating. As I sat at the dinner table to share I choked up and thought I am creating something I wish someone had done for me. That in itself is the greatest reward.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We have amazing museums and AC in Houston is a huge plus! Not too far from the Museum of Natural Science is the Japanese Garden which is one of my favorite places to sit and think. I would end they day at City Acre Brewery which shares a fence with a house that you can pretend is a castle.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mine is a story about community. God has placed amazing people all along my path. Encouragers and leaders in their own ways. I have had such an amazing outpour of love in this journey that I can whole heartedly say this was my dream given to me by God and walked by my family and cheered by the people!
