We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Simo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success is making it personal. Our clients are the stars! We’re definitely not your typical studio. Our community is fun, supportive and offers all the positive vibes. It’s at our very core to welcome everyone with open arms. Our team is deeply passionate about making our studio everyone’s happy place. When you love something dearly, you share it with your friends. We have built our clientele through word of mouth.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I received my professional ballet training from Houston Ballet Academy on full scholarship, where I was presented with the prestigious Peter Schaer award. I performed with Houston Ballet in several productions including Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, and Don Quixote. I assisted in the lower levels and choreographed at Houston Ballet Academy. I performed almost 10 years with Texas Ballet Theater, where I danced Principal roles including “Alice” in Alice in Wonderland and “Snow Queen” in The Nutcracker. I taught and staged several pieces at Texas Ballet Theater School. During her time as Director of Community Programs for Texas Ballet Theater, I created three new programs: Dance and Fitness Classes for Adults; a Children’s Dance Division; and a Pilates Center. I was classically trained in Pilates at Houston Ballet and have been teaching since 2002. I have been instructing an array of levels and ages, ranging from budding ballerinas to professionals. My dream was to create a studio that welcomed all ages that wanted to move.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I was born and raised in Houston and love this city! A perfect day would be brunch at Bumble and Bee at the Post Oak Hotel, catching a performance of Houston Ballet at the Wortham, cocktails at The Grove at Discovery Green and dinner at Arturo’s.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my incredible team of instructors. They inspire me everyday with their talent, passion, dedication and the way they lift up others. I would be nothing without them. They are the face of the studio. The entire team kept the studio running perfectly while I was recovering from my double mastectomy this year and during both bedrest pregnancies. I am lucky enough to call them all dear friends.
