Hi Von, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was really about creating a space where I could make a meaningful impact while staying true to my values. I wanted to build an environment where both clients and employees feel seen, heard, and respected—where care, compassion, and boundaries coexist. I also wanted the freedom to implement my vision fully, from the quality of service to the culture of the team. Starting my own business allowed me to combine my expertise with my passion for helping people in a way that felt authentic and sustainable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art—whether it’s the work I create at Lavender & Sage or the experiences I craft for my clients—is all about creating spaces and moments where people feel truly seen, heard, and cared for. What sets me apart is my focus not just on technique or trends, but on the human connection behind every service. I’m most proud of the safe, welcoming environment I’ve built for my clients and my team, where creativity, compassion, and excellence coexist.
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced significant challenges, from being scammed out of $20K to losing another $6K due to a mishandling of funds by a CPA, on top of the usual growing pains of running a business. Balancing family life, managing finances, and navigating a competitive industry tested me in ways I never expected. But I overcame these obstacles by staying true to my values, learning from each setback, and leaning on my support system of family, team members, and loyal clients. These experiences taught me resilience, discernment, and the importance of surrounding myself with trustworthy people. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that Lavender & Sage is more than a salon—it’s a place of care, creativity, and community. Every detail, every service, every interaction is guided by a desire to uplift, inspire, and honor the people who walk through our doors.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
