We had the good fortune of connecting with Wu Chang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wu, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
The end goal is to create a life I don’t need a vacation from. To live life on vacation.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m most proud of the lives I’ve lived.
“[Forty-One] and I done lived a lifetime a few times”
– Big Sean
I’ve been blessed to achieve my goals in multiple facets of multiple careers.
• management positions in retail before 21
• martial arts instructor
• radio personality in multiple cities in various formats
• international club DJ
• real estate agent team leader and mentor
I know some people like my mom that have only had a career in one industry. I understand how hard it was for her to climb the corp ladder as a single mother. Continuing her education so no doors will be closed to her. That’s inspiring and admirable.
I’ve been blessed to be able to taste success in multiple careers!
I wouldn’t say it was easy, but I definitely know It could’ve been a lot harder.
I overcame challenges by understanding there’s more than one way to achieve the desired results. My life is filled with detours towards my goals. Just because the street is blocked doesn’t mean you can’t take the sidewalk, ya dig? There’s always other avenues to the same destination.
The latest lesson I’ve learned, is to be unapologetically you. I understand I’m not for everybody and one person doesn’t understand my value, that doesn’t take away from my value. There are others that have been searching for you as you are. No reason to ever try to conform to square hole when you’re a triangle peg. BE A TRIANGLE! 🤣
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Kemah Boardwalk and Clear Lake is always fun, Moody Gardens & Schlitterbahn is a Summer must.
Can’t forget Nasa, the Natural History Museum, Galleria Mall (especially during Christmas). Christmas Lights in River Oaks.
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner would be a Houston Food tour!!
Require dining would be:
• Good Co Seafood (Memorial City)
• Breakfast Klein
• Turkey Leg Hut
• Papadeaux (Westheimer)
• Pappasitos (Richmond)
• Taste of Texas
• Dak & Bop
• Karne
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is the hardest part because I can’t credit my accomplishments to any one person. I’m a compilation of influential people through my life in every aspect.
I’m not a wiseman; I only repeat the words wise men have given me.
Witnessing my mother, Peggy Gent, overcome obstacles and adversities instilled an undeniable work ethic in me.
Noticing my father’s behavior pushed me to strive to be consistent & move with integrity.
The BumSquad DJZ, w/ shouts out to whom I call the Alphabet Team; E (Elaine Gracia), LP (Sergio “Latin Prince” Jimenez) & YZ (Yaniz Merican).
Joshua “Crisco Kidd” Carmona for reminding me to stay humble always. Life is always ups and down. When your down, you can only go up. When your on top, you can always fall down.
Todd “DJ Penetrate” De La Garza was always dropping gems in everyday conversations that were great life lessons in business and my personal life.
Marc “DJ Marc X” Perry reminds me how to move with an open heart & generosity.
Eric “Doughboy” Sims was an example of patience and kindness for others, but not when it compromises your peace.
