We had the good fortune of connecting with Yadira & Gustavo Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yadira & Gustavo, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson our business has taught us is to perfect our own craft and not to focus on what others are doing. All of our energy goes into figuring out the best ways to serve our customers, how to make our process run smoother and spending countless of hours trying to come up with cool new services to add to our business. If we put any of that powerful energy towards comparing ourselves to the next person then we are doing not only ourselves a disservice but our customers as well.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business is solely based on faith and I say that because we began this business during one of the craziest time in 2020 which was at the rise of Covid. We simply believed the business idea was perfect, it fell inline with our passions and we took the leap of faith. It hasn’t been an easy ride thus far and some days it takes that extra pep talk to push ourselves to keep going when we feel that business is slower than usual.
We knew starting a business would come with many obstacles so we mentally prepared ourselves to push through them as they arise. Our biggest tactic is to remind ourselves of how far we’ve come! In less than a year, we’ve done close to 50 events and to be completely honest, I was not expecting to even have 10 by this time.
Along the way, we’ve learned multiple lessons but the biggest lesson I always fall back on is to remain authentic. We want to be known for being us and not for following a trend. I want the world to look at HTX Backyard Cinema and think “Wow, I’ve never seen anyone do that before!”.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston has a bunch of hidden gems! I would definitely recommend the Towne Lake Boardwalk. They have a bunch of nice restaurants to eat at and the best part is that they all over look the lake.
I also would suggest going to Discovery Green. I love all of the scenery and if they have kids, it’s the perfect place for them to run around.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would love to give a shoutout to our son, Maximiliano Morales. Even though he is only a year old, he is a huge driving force that pushed us to begin a business of our own. When you become a parent, your entire world changes in a blink of any eye. It is no longer about us, it is now about the responsibility you hold in raising a human being. We want to pave the way for Max to see that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
