We had the good fortune of connecting with Young Prince and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Young, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always felt the need to have my own business so eventually i can have something to pass down to my children. I love entertainment and the goal one day is to have my own big entertainment company/ talent agency .
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m so versatile . I excel at everything i do and my style is so diverse i can flourish in any setting . Most comedians have one specific demographic but being from NYC I had the opportunity to grow up around so many different cultures that i can use my comedy to appeal and relate to them . I love that i am able to use my platform to spread the culture and introduce people to a new way of life . I am where i am today because im genuine and very meticulous when it comes to the craft . When it comes to putting out content I’m very intentional about what i do down to my mannerisms in videos . Everything. Is calculated . The hardest part is always the come up . Building your platform is never easy and getting people to support you is even harder . I needed to have a i will not give up no matter what mindset in order to get where i am today and I’m glad i did so . I want people to know that i didn’t cut corners , never got a major co-sign or had big connections. Anything i ever achieved was due to hard work and dedication . In this business I’ve learned to not take things personal . Keep everything business and keep your true friends close because people will smile in your face one day and talk down on you the next once you start excelling . The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow, so many to thank. First and foremost My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I’m nothing without him . My Lady for always believing in me and pushing me to be my best . Some amazing mentors I’ve had along the way include My big brothers DJ Tunez and Foxy P (CEO of African princes of comedy) Tunez instilled the confidence in me to pursue the craft and how to work a crowd . Fox was my first manager and taught me not only the business aspect of the game but also how to perfect my craft . His famous quote to me is “never blame the crowd it is your job to engage them and entertain by all means.” Ive taken that with me throughout my career .
