We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvette Perret and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yvette, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I’m a mother of two teenagers! My daughter Felicity is 17 and my son Justin is 14. My husband Frank and I have always taught them to be respectful. Respect yourself and others. We have always prepared them for hard work. Things are not given to you but earned in this world. The look in your child’s eyes when they accomplish something on their own is priceless! We have taught our children to be independent, yet family oriented. I hope and pray one day they teach their own children the same values.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
By title I am a photographer but to me it’s more than that. I feel special to capture times in people’s lives that they want to remember. You ever pick up an old family picture and just smile? Sometimes you can remember the day perfectly and others you might have long forgotten. To seal that exact moment with a photo, is priceless. Our days pass so quickly and, in my eyes, I just want to capture it all! I hope my clients feel my passion through their photos and cherish them for years to come.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So I love anything Houston! Born and raised and love our city… when we have family or friends come in to town we love to check out the big hot spots they have never seen such as NASA, Kemah boardwalk. We love a walk down the Strand and the Sea Wall in Galveston! You have to have Mexican Food while visiting Houston and for me, the best places would be Taqueria Del Sol and Morales Mexican Restaurant! Delicious! BBQ is another favorite for my family and you must try Old Bucs BBQ in Manvel, Texas just south of Houston! It’s only open Saturday and Sundays but you will love it!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out – MY FAMILY! The 4 of us are bonded like glue. They are always right beside me in all that I do. In the photography life, I’m always on location with props, the elements and tons of clients. They are constantly helping me perfect my business and are the best in customer service! The biggest compliment from my clients is when they thank me for making them feel comfortable and how awesome my family was too! Treat each client like you would your own family and success is in the palm of your hands.
