I am inspired by the new experiences, stories, and people I meet through my artistic career. Being a musician, actress, and influencer who travels from place to place & sight to sight, I find more and more that I am learning what it means to enjoy both the journey and the destination. I love simple realizations like that. For instance, the time I realized self-love is not just a cliché phrase, it’s important. It’s sets the tone and foundation for who we are and what we stand for. I learned that lesson through writing my own song titled “Self Love Proclamation”. The song was co-written with some great people in Nashville and is nominated for two indie Josie Music Awards 2021. I find there is little by which I am not inspired. Though there is pain within both, so much pain, still the human experience is endlessly fascinating and the world is place of beauty. Nina Simone said that artists have a “duty to reflect the times,” and I agree. I am a passionate believer that artists do more than just reflect the times when we tell our stories. Artists actually create the world anew with every piece of art birthed into the world. Art transforms pain. A strange alchemy in which light and life are somehow brought forth from the ugliest trauma and oppression. Who has not been comforted by seeing themselves in a book? Hearing themselves in a song?
