In our experience, most folks, including ourselves don’t have enough of an understanding of risk and the role it plays in our lives and careers and so we have made a concerted effort as a team to have conversations about risk with our interviewees. We’ve shared some highlights below.

I’m general, I would say I am on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to risk level. I typically invest money in safe things, so opening a business was one of the more risky actions I have made in my life. Since I was young, i have always had dreams about opening a business but none of my ideas seemed unique enough. I grew up with a business mindset and when I had an idea I felt was good, it seemed less risky for me to take the plunge. I think my risk level allowed me to hold off on starting a business until the perfect timing and idea lined up. You have to be willing to bet on myself. Accepting some level of risks is true for every entrepreneur. I mean you have to have some real guts to say OK, I’m going to go against everything I know, and try this!
