Troy Henry | Designer & Marketer

In the past I would work every night and Saturday and attempt to do life with my family in the middle of it. Recently I have started working three to four nights per week and taking an entire night for a ‘family night’ to help balance how I spend my time. Read more>>

Jessica Rotella | Stylist & Salon Owner

I feel like this is an ongoing endeavor, balance that is. Balance for me currently is being able to juggle both being a stylist, but also a salon owner – which each in their own hold a bounty of duties, but also be able to take care of my family and home. I find that (ongoing, hehe) to do lists and my planner are my saving grace to keep me grounded and surely help with balance as well. Routines, planning ahead and making time for what’s essential is how I keep it all rolling. Read more>>

I started my first business when I was in my 20s, an architectural design and construction company, was hard. Getting ahead in this business being a young woman was difficult but my passion for architecture and business made me work hard until I got a position in the industry. Hillary Butler | Professional Artist

When I first started my art business, I was so freaked out that I wouldn’t make it, that I worked all the time. I hustled my buns off working too many hours and I wasn’t very present with my husband. I really regret that now. When I gave birth to my first son, all of my priorities shifted overnight. I had this little person that I was so in love with who needed me and I didn’t want to miss out on his growing up. I had to limit my hours to work around part time childcare and learned how to work a lot smarter. Read more>>

I’ve been an educator for 13 years. It has been my dream job. When I first joined the industry I was single, freshly degreed and eager to absorb everything about the career. I was a student of education. I spent many hours outside of my regular work day being dedicated to becoming a better educator. It was intentional. This was my career of a lifetime and I knew I had a short window of time when I could be completely immersed in it and I took advantage of it. It was great while it lasted, but the season in my life began to change. No longer could I be immersed in my career as I had done before. Read more>>

I have made it my mission to put family first. Not only for myself, but as an example for those who work with me and for me. Without this balance of family, selfcare, and health… burn out can occur. I experienced this as a Director of Disaster Recovery at a local nonprofit. You would think this type of service to the community would be very rewarding, In many ways it was and I enjoyed empowering residents to manage their home repairs, stand up for under-resourced communities, Read more>>

I’ve always been a busy individual wether it’s overtime at work or a side hustle as detailing cars, etc, it can be a lot to juggle at times but I’ve always found a way to dedicate time to my family because I am aware of the importance of it, it’s a necessity to sometimes disconnect from your responsibilities to cherish what truly matters and what you work so hard for. I now truly know what work life balance should look like. It’s not always about the money and it’s amazing what you can truly live on and be totally happy and not always compensating time for possessions. I have true freedom and quality time with family and friends. When I worked for 32+ years in a retail career working g 3 of 4 weekends and holidays year after year I always had to choose literally 1 function a month that I could be with family my only retreat is that I didn’t make this leap of faith sooner Read more>>
