Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.
I’ve always had a love for music, even as a child. I used to sit around the TV all day and re-enact Michael Jackson videos lol. So the passion has always been there. Hip-Hop was definitely my 1st true love. Growing up on 2Pac, Bone Thugs, Snoop Dogg, No Limit, etc, is what created that passion. Once I realized I could rhyme, I knew that’s what I wanted to do. I would have to thank my mother for this path. I was one of the shyest kids you could ever meet so she put me in pageants to get me out of my shell. Second pageant in, I won the whole thing and got signed to a modeling/acting agency. I then went on to modeling/acting in many publications,commericals and movies. From that point I decided to work behind the camera and get a different aspect to the whole creative process. Instantly became infatuated with photography/videography. Read more>>
Ever since I was a kid I used to love drawing, painting, anything that involved creating something from nothing. I was the kid who would draw on the side of his notes instead of paying attention to what the teacher was saying. I was never good in school, but I would almost always have the best grade in class when it came to an art project. I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue a career that would involve creativity whether it was painting, photography, graphic design, etc. Read more>>
