Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

I’ve always been an artist of some sort since a child. I used to draw and create comic books with my siblings. I also use to vividly use my imagination whenever I played with toys or plates in my front yard. Great question. I remember growing up always been around music. My step father had a 50 or so CD Book. For the pure JOY it gives people! There is nothing like seeing the face of a 5 year old light up when he sees his favorite character at his birthday party or the intimacy and flow of emotion when a husband has planned a milestone birthday party for his wife! For individual and collective reasons. It all began as a desperate need for an outlet for self-expression and individuality.
