We had the good fortune of connecting with Susana Linares and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Susana, how do you think about risk?
Wow! Taking a risk is such a big step in anyone’s life, because you don’t want to fail with your career or your business. 2022 was very difficult for me as I was laid off from my job, but at the same time I took it as an opportunity to finally start my own business that I was planning a long time ago, so I finally decide to put in practice my career, my work experience and knowledge into my own business. The support and feedback that people gives me and offers plays a big part in the development of my brand which makes me not to give up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

From a young age I always been the little girl that participated in all school activities. Always participating in dance, theater, event planning and organizing (I love to party) and all those opportunities that were offered to me made me develop a career in creativity. I love colors, the application of techniques to a design, the combination of different things to create a new one. Fashion merchandising and marketing are great tools for those who like to pursue a creative career and prepares you to also manage and organize besides the artistic and creative path.

As small business I wanted to create original items and designs that are fun so people can be in style with Craftbun, as well as great gifts to be shared with the loved ones. From designing the logo to designing every item in my shop as well as expand my concept to accommodate my customers requests and stay up to date with trends and apply the Craftbun style to it. As well as being consistent by engaging with customers in social media, market events and other small businesses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow! Houston has so many great places to visit !.. the last time my friend came to visit me in Houston during the holidays we definitely enjoy walking around downtown, then Ride our bikes (It was a nice weather that day)around the discovery green while they were having live music or night events to then stop by main street and enjoy a drink at the bars . Of course as a visitor she needed to try our famous whataburger! And eat our delicious BBQ, Hickory Barn BBQ was the place to go this time. I like how downtown is developing into a more touristic area and not just offices.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that helped me to develop my brand, but shoutout to my friends, my family my boyfriend , my mentors who gave me the opportunity and believed in me that I was able to start my own business. As well as the markets I’ve participated.
