We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffani Janelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffani, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I’m the mother of an incredibly intuitive fifteen-year-old. Choosing the entrepreneurial path gave me the freedom to homeschool her, and I truly believe that decision has helped shape her into a global citizen. Through travel and hands-on experiences, she’s developed a deep curiosity about how the world works and how everything connects.

We’re currently in South Africa, where she’s learning about food and its deep relationship with agriculture and global cuisine. She’s discovering how food tells the story of our shared history while also shaping our future. I believe experiences like this will open the door for her to build meaningful relationships with people all over the world.

My daughter also has recently opened her own luxury mobile pastry service. It’s pop up based. she has been in the kitchen with me since she was one week old. I’m so proud of her love for pastry arts, as I am a valedictorian graduate of my Alma mater LeNotre Culinary Institute, a retired wedding cake designer, and I also started my first business at this age. Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For me, food has always been more than nourishment, it’s a language, a memory keeper, and a powerful storytelling tool. My art lives at the intersection of cuisine, culture, and experience. For more than twenty years, I’ve built a career designing culinary moments that feel cinematic, where food becomes part of a larger narrative about identity, celebration, and connection.

People often refer to me as “Chef to the Stars,” and it’s a title I wear boldly. Not simply because of the remarkable people I’ve had the honor of cooking for, but because it represents something deeper: the idea that when you honor your craft and intentionally build relationships with people who truly value your work, your path can ascend in extraordinary ways.

At the core of everything I create is the belief that food is the most universal art form in the world. Everyone eats. Everyone gathers around a table. My work transforms those everyday habits, into experiences that feel meaningful, luxurious, and unforgettable.

What are you most proud of or excited about?

What I’m most proud of is that my creative work has evolved into something much larger than myself. Food opened the door, but the mission has always been about humanity.

Through my nonprofit organization, Honor Humanity, I’m able to connect my passion for food with service, supporting communities and creating opportunities for people around the world who deserve access, dignity, and nourishment.

At the same time, I’ve been expanding my creative voice through storytelling. My production company, Heard + Scene Entertainment, allows me to explore culture, identity, and the beauty of everyday life through film and television.

I’ve spent most of my career working within the entertainment ecosystem, designing experiences behind the scenes for artists, brands, and cultural leaders. To now see stories I’ve created beginning to find their way onto screens feels surreal. It’s one of those rare moments where you realize the seeds you planted years ago are finally blooming.

How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy?

It definitely wasn’t easy, but the journey has been deeply rewarding.

Entrepreneurship requires vision, resilience, and a willingness to believe in something long before the world sees it. I started with a passion for hospitality and a belief that food could be a vehicle for connection and storytelling. Over time, that passion evolved into curated culinary experiences, brand collaborations, and cultural moments that resonated far beyond the plate.

Of course, there were challenges. Building something meaningful often requires navigating uncertainty, limited resources, and moments of doubt. But those experiences ultimately strengthened my clarity and sharpened my creative instincts.

Every obstacle became part of the foundation

What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of alignment. When your work reflects your authentic passions and values, the right collaborators, clients, and audiences will find you.

I’ve also learned that creativity is a powerful compass. The ideas that feel the most unconventional are often the ones that shape culture in the most profound ways.

And perhaps most importantly, I’ve learned that success is never built alone. My journey has been supported by incredible communities, collaborators, and people who believed in my vision even in its earliest stages.

What do you want the world to know about you, your brand, and your story?

At its heart, my story is about transformation, taking something as familiar as a meal and turning it into a platform for culture, creativity, and impact.

My brand represents the belief that artistry can live in everyday experiences. It’s about celebrating the power of gathering, storytelling, and shared humanity.

Whether I’m creating a table, producing a film, or building initiatives through Honor Humanity, the goal is always the same: to bring people together in ways that inspire, nourish, and remind us of what connects us.

Because ultimately, food is more than sustenance, it’s one of the most powerful ways we understand each other.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Start your morning with a walk or run at Eleanor Tinsley Park, taking in the Houston skyline, or head to MacGregor Park for a run along the bayou.

After a great shower, grab breakfast at a true Houston staple: The Breakfast Klub. My order? Wings, waffles and grits with soft-scrambled eggs. Trust me.

Cool off with an art tour through Houston. Start at The Menil Collection, make your way to Project Row Houses, and spend time exploring Houston’s African American history and cultural institutions.

Then, turn the city into your own open-air gallery with a mural search through Downtown Houston. My personal favorite is Lady Justice.
