We had the good fortune of connecting with Arnet Jonuelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arnet, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?

I actually found this career accidentally. It started when I was doing brand ambassadorship in 2018 for fitness clothing, in which I would send pictures of myself modeling the clothes. You can imagine how difficult this was with a big ol’ camera, so I had the idea of meeting up with the other ambassador girls in my area, and I would just take pictures of them. I surprisingly enjoyed directing and posing them, finding locations that would complement their outfit colors, and editing the pictures to look cute afterwards. Since then I expanded to photographing families, couples, and many, many more.

I think the hobby stuck because I had always been artsy as a little girl – drawing Sailor Moon and the sailor scouts at five years old then pursuing advanced art courses and winning competitions in high school. However, as I grew older with a job, rent, errands… you know the whole “responsibilities” package, I had less free time, so I stopped drawing altogether. Picking up photography as a hobby gave me a mental break from the routine stresses in life. It allowed me to finally understand what “passion” meant, but most importantly, it allowed me to fall back in love with my creative side. Years later, I feel so incredibly blessed to have had people support me mentally and financially in my hobby. I have all my family, friends, peers, past, and future clients to thank for allowing me to take what was once a mere, accidental hobby to a thriving creative career.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business is called Blurr Photography LLC. It’s named after the Gaussian Blur tool in Photoshop because it was my favorite and most used tool. In my previous photos I actually did a lot of heavy editing in Photoshop, so much so that the pictures look almost painterly. Nowadays I do a lighter, dreamy, more natural edit because it’s what my clients want. I used to shoot around downtown a lot but shoot more in parks now because my clients love trees and flowers. I’ve also adjusted the times on my packages to accommodate their little kids as requested, and I was more than happy to!

Blurr is all about listening and catering to the very people who support our growth. I always welcome feedback and have fantastic conversations with my clients… and I promise you I take note of what they say. If they’re asking this year why I didn’t host Christmas minis, you bet next year I will have a setup. We’re only as successful as our demand, and I want to make sure that we support it as best we can.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Oh there’s so many fun things to do in Houston. Starting in Sugar Land because that’s where I am based, I’d take them to a show at the Smart Financial Stadium, various live shows, events, and fun places at Town Center like the Wonder Emporium. Speaking of fun things, I’d take them to the Color Factory, Seismique, Rockets or Astros games, and there’s even the Renaissance festival at the end of the year.

For fancy food, I’d take them Caso Do Brasil or Taste of Texas, and of course we have to take them to Whataburger!

For shopping we love Katy Mills or the Houston Premium Outlets on 290. One place I’ve been meaning to visit myself are the various market events at the POST Houston. If we’re going to shop, let’s support small businesses and their crafts.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank all my family and friends, especially the ones I used as test subjects for my experimental photography. I have learned so much because of them and grew better in my skills every session. I’d like to thank all the clients who have booked with me thus far. Thank you for trusting me with your memories and allowing me to decorate your hallway with canvases of my work. Lastly, special thank you to my sister who gifted me the amazing camera with which I create magic every single day.
