We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Due to my husband’s career in the Marine Corp, we moved every 3-4 years. This, along with raising 3 small children, made it extremely difficult for me to have a career of my own. After we moved to Texas and were able to set permanent roots here, I was finally able to focus on what my career goals were. Living in so many homes, in several different states and areas, naturally sparked my interest in Real Estate.

What should our readers know about your business?
I just recently obtained my Real Estate License a few months ago. Although the Market took a dramatic turn (slowing down due to interest rate hikes) from the previous year, I was able to get my first contract my first month, and close on my first transaction within less than 2 months of being licensed! And this was all done with a complete stranger I happened to meet while working. I am also due to close on my next transaction with another Client in the next 2 weeks, and am so excited for them as well!!

Being a Real Estate Agent definitely has many challenges. Not only do you have to successfully interpret your Client’s needs, but you must do so with a constantly shifting housing market. There is so much training involved and also several start up costs that many people may not be aware of, such as exam, licensing and MLS fees. There are also constant marketing costs and monthly fees. So proper planning and saving is absolutely necessary if you choose this career path.

I definitely credit my success to my work ethic, honesty, and people skills. I truly care about my clients and want the best for them. It is so humbling and rewarding to be a part of someone’s journey of home ownership. I take great pride in the fact that I am able to be there to support them and help them find a home where they are able to create lasting memories.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have several friends from our previous military life that have visited, or want to visit us here in the Houston Area. If they were here for a week long trip, there would be so many places to see and so much to do!

I am such a foodie that I would have to take them to:
*Breakfast/Brunch at: The Breakfast Klub (Houston), The Waffle Bus (Houston), Weights + Measures (Houston), The Kitchen (The Woodlands), Hebrews Coffeehouse (Magnolia), Javaman Coffee (Humble)
*Lunch/Dinner/Sweets at: Sul Bing Su (Katy & Houston), Whiskey Cake (The Woodlands), Gen Korean BBQ (Houston), Georgia James Steak (Houston), Steak 48 (Houston), Juliet (Houston), Maggiano’s Little Italy (Houston)

Places to see/hang out would have to be:
*Discovery Green (Houston), POST (Houston), Sawyer Yards (Houston), The Rustic ( Houston), The Galleria (Houston), Hobby Center (For a Concert in Houston), Asia Society Center (Houston), Lucky Land (Houston), Market Street (The Woodlands), Antique/Vintage Shopping (Magnolia)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely have to dedicate my shoutout to my family! They have truly been instrumental to my success. I had so much anxiety about taking my State and National licensing exams, but my husband pushed me to face my fears and believe in myself. Being a small business owner himself, he continues to inspire and motivate me all the time. I also wouldn’t be where I am in my career without the love and support from my 3 children. They keep me on trend with current social media knowledge, patiently help me with content for my videos and posts, and help distribute my marketing materials.
