We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharorian Samuels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharorian, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is an African proverb “ a beautiful thing is never perfect”. to me it means no matter how beautiful something or someone is, they have flaws and imperfection about them. But just because it’s imperfect doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful! Some people tend to think that just because someone or something is beautiful it’s supposed to be perfect, or nothing is wrong with it. But is there a such thing as perfect? What might not be perfect to me, is perfect for this next person. What may be flawed to me may not be for the next. As a nail tech I am my worst critic. I’m always hard on myself, when doing art work or simply completing a set. Sometimes I feel like it’s not my best work or I could have done better. But in the clients eyes they love it, it’s perfect, they don’t see the imperfection I see.Yet, here I am criticizing my work, “ the lines are crooked” or “ I should have did this or that”. This quote reminds that my flaws or imperfections are still beautiful.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a nail artist, I say nail artist because create art, on nails. Doesn’t matter if it’s on press on nails or acrylic the nail become my canvas. The process to get where I am in my business now was not easy. The saying “I put my bloods sweat and tears in this” is so true! You really have to be dedicated to your business! Eat, sleep, and breathe your business! That’s the only way to become successful. Learned that consistently is key and that strangers are your biggest supporter. Yes friends and family may support but a stranger will root for you all the way. I want the world to k ow about my brand that Coco CheNail (She- Nail ) is more than just nails, it’s an art!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting me for the week, we would be all over the city. First we would go to a brunch spot called Boozy Brunch, they have some really great food. Then we’ll ride the scooter downtown. The next day we would go on a food tour that’ll take us on a few different location & we get to try their signature dishes. Next we would go ATV riding, which is super fun. The next day we would go to brunch again but we would go to The Rustic. Afterwards we would go shopping at the galleria. Later that day we would go eat at Lost & Found, & they have some really awesome drinks. For the next following days we’ll go to Sanctuary Spa to get facials and massages . Now once we make it to the weekend it’s time to turn up. Saturday we will go to Kamp Houston then The Address. Sunday we would end it off at 5015 Lounge.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my daughter Ziya K. She is the motivation that keeps me going! There’s been times where I wanted to give up, then I’ll look at that little face, and I tell myself I have to keep pushing. I have to accomplish my dreams. I never want her to see me give up. Because I don’t want her to think failure is an option. & That no matter what obstacles are put in the way, you can still make it to the finish line. & accomplished any goals that’s been set.
