We had the good fortune of connecting with Cherie Clark-Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cherie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For a long time I had searched for ways to help people in a bigger, more effective and structured way. Having received so much benefit in my own physical, emotional and spiritual health through participating in Body & Brain classes and programs, it seemed a natural and needed step to start my own center.

I had always had a vision for a creating a community of people who are accepting, supportive and growing together. Body & Brain allows me to make this vision into reality. I also get to do a lot of work with the community whether it’s helping nurses release tension and stress through acupressure or working with seniors to help them feel a sense of vitality and control of their health and well-being again. I’m so grateful to have the methods and training to help those who are looking for a way to empower themselves in their life.

I also knew I needed to take a big step out of my comfort zone if I wanted to keep growing and evolving in my life. Taking on the responsibility of a bricks and mortar business owner keeps me motivated to share my passion and keep helping the World.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I am most proud of in my business is the welcoming and supportive environment that I have worked hard to create. Unlike other studios, I am the person people see at the front desk, teaching the classes, doing the energy healings, out in the community and even cleaning the floors. When people come to Body & Brain they feel like they are home. I make it a point to know each member well and help them not only in class but also with exercises and information they can use at home and in integrate their life. I believe you can’t just rely on coming to a class if you want to make changes in your life. You have to be willing and courageous to make changes WHILE you live your life.

Being part of Body & Brain, a national leader in health and healing, I have access to retreats, programs, workshops, other trainers and Masters that can help people to grow and reach their goals and dreams.

It’s not easy. I find that I am always thinking about my members. How are they? How can I help them more? I share their pains as much as their successes. Running the business as well as caring for members and looking after my family is definitely more that a full time job. My vision for health, happiness, harmony and peace in the world is what keeps me going. I know I am not alone and have mentors and people I can reach out to for help. Body & Brain’s mission is to benefit all life on Earth including myself and create a better world by awakening the best in human spirit. I deeply resonate with this mission and love that I have the opportunity to live it everyday.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Woodlands is such a great place to enjoy the outdoors and laid back atmosphere of Texas. The Waterway with it’s beautiful nature and water is so relaxing and peaceful to walk, sit by the Koi pond, catch some live music, have a picnic, watch a concert at the pavilion, and eat some great food! Stepping outside the Woodlands, Lake Conroe is a great place to spend the day and some of the local breweries and wineries can make for a great social time out. We’re lucky to have Jones State Forest to hike and all the pathways through the Woodlands. Jump on a kayak or paddle board on Lake Woodlands and take in the world from another perspective. I love visiting our unique small businesses from boutiques, to independent coffee shops like Golden Hour and Blue Door. Visiting independent bookstores such as Village Books or Buy The Book. Getting balanced and centered at Zen Holistic Stores. Joining some of the fun activities through the social group, The Trybe run by Woodlands local, Angela Caveney. I just attended a unique Farm to Bar class with them. Getting some amazing treatments and services from our local holistic and alternative health small businesses such as Dr. Evan Pulver at Foundation Chiropractic or Alyson Bayer at Clear Choice Acupuncture in Downtown Conroe. Soaking up some quiet time in the salt rooms at Salt Remedy. Taking a TaeKwonDo class with Master Seong at Ace TaeKwonDo. There are just so many things to do in the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Master Maureen who was the center manager at the Woodlands Body & Brain location (now closed) was instrumental in helping me grow, heal and follow my dream to help others in this way. My teacher, Ilchi Lee, through his constant guidance, books and trainings has been a model for me in my life. My community has been so welcoming to my family and I after we moved to The Woodlands 8.5 years ago. Without that community support, the friends I’ve made and the small businesses I work alongside, Body & Brain Conroe would not have been here for now 5.5 years.
