We had the good fortune of connecting with Camila Navarrete and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camila, how do you think about risk?
I think that the fear of taking a risk often paralyzes us because we don’t know what we are going to face in the future or if we are going to achieve our goal.
My father is a person I greatly admire, he has been my best example in terms of venturing out and taking a risk. He has always inculcated my sisters and I to take the bull by the horns and keep going until we reach the goal and if for some reason it is not achieved at least we obtained one more lesson from life. This does not mean that I am not afraid of daring new things, of course I am, but I think that one loses more if he does not dare, because at some point it will come to your mind what would have happened if I had taken the risk.
Before starting this project I was afraid and had thoughts that blocked me a lot from taking the next step, but the only thing you can do is trust in yourself and jump into the void because you never know if taking that next step is the best decision you make in your life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since I was little I’ve always been interested in the fashion industry and because of that I studied fashion design to get more knowledge.
It has not been an easy process, because being creative although many doubt it haha, is a very long and sometimes exhausting process. I had a clothing brand that I decided to start a little before the pandemic happened, but sadly I had to terminate it because of the pandemic. I took a break to analyze what my next step would be, at that time I decided to start studying law, which is a 360 change, it has nothing to do with fashion, therefore I never thought I would be working on creating something in the fashion industry again.
This year I decided to embark in a new journey in the fashion industry, but this time with accessories.
What I love about fashion is that it’s fun, it can also help you bring out the best version of yourself and that’s what I want and hope to contribute with my jewelry brand.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m new to Houston so recommendations are all welcome haha, but if I were to take them out to eat I would choose Flower Child or Sweet Paris, I love those restaurants.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my family for always supporting me in all my projects (which have been quite a lot), my friends who push me to keep going when I am doubting myself and all the people I have met who have contributed to my growth.
