We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzanne Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Suzanne, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done for my kids is teach them about God. I want them to know Him and have a relationship with Him. We are very active in our church, and do our best to teach our kids about God’s word and how we should behave and treat others in a way that would please Him.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a full service family photographer, and photograph a family’s most important moments at all stages – maternity, newborn, family, and high school seniors. My specialty is creating artwork beyond the pixel. Here’s the deal…

If you’re depending on a hard drive or the cloud to preserve your family’s photographs, you are taking a great risk! Digital files can become corrupted or damaged, and they can also become obsolete as technology changes. Older file formats may not be compatible with newer software or hardware, making it difficult to access or read digital images created in those formats. Think about it – we don’t use floppy disks or cds anymore, do we?

On the other hand, printed photographs can can be held, displayed, and passed down through generations. That’s why I’m passionate about getting images off of hard drives and into safe hands – YOURS!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE living in Houston. There’s just SO many amazing experiences and restaurants all right here. I grew up in a very tiny town in Arkansas, so having everything right outside my front door has been so, so fun! I live in The Woodlands area, and there’s so many little places I’d wanna show off! I love Tosca Italian Gourmet in Spring. It’s a quaint little Italian bakery and coffee shop, and everything they make is AMAZING! I’d want to head over to Old Town Spring and shop at the unique little shoppes there, and definitely walk The Woodlands Waterway in the evening. And while at The Waterway, we’d have to stop and have a margarita and some fish tacos at Cyclone Anaya’s – Tex Mex is my love language.

I’d also wanna take them downtown to the Museum of Natural Science – I love the Egyptian exhibit and the Planetarium – and make the short drive down to Galveston to walk the beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents – they taught me so many things, but it’s because of them I’m a photographer. I’m lucky enough to have albums full of family memories. And even luckier that THEIR parents documented their lives with photography, because I have photographs as far back as the late 1800s! It’s my own family’s legacy that has inspired me to create and protect my client’s family legacies by having photos printed.
