We had the good fortune of connecting with Christ Constantine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christ, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It starts with having a good business plan, where is the location? What is the concept and who is the buyer?A business plan will help us go through the process from the start to finish.Another important aspect is due diligence such as market research, by getting familiar with the area and understanding the demographics what they need that also will help with the decision making process.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sushi by the Heights is a contemporary Japanese restaurant that values American culture, we offer a variety of food from fresh sashimi, sushi, tempura, roll, 3 styles of hand roll, steak and Robata options. We source the ingredients widely from the world’s best sustainable products including Japan, New Zealand (well known for their best King Salmon & the lamb), Indonesia (spices), and even local ingredients straight to our kitchen. At Sushi by the Heights we not only offer sushi and other Japanese cuisine, we also offer Mediterranean inspired dishes like Japanese hummus edamame. We are here in Texas, especially Houston, we love steak, therefore we offer 22 oz angus prime bone-in ribeye, sous vide angus prime bone-in short ribs. For couples that love sushi and the other partner don’t we have other dishes that also none sushi lover like Lobster ravioli with yuzu truffle beurre blanc sauce, chicken parm udon and Japanese scallop risotto with carrot purred.
To get where I am standing right now my advice is don’t close any open opportunities and engage with the locals because they’re the ones who support our business, listen to their feedback and needs. Fix the issue and always make sure the customer leaves with smiles. It is not easy for sure to build a business from draft to reality, keep up with all the good work and never give up.
What I want the locals and the world to know is if you ever had a chance to stop by at Sushi by the Heights and at that point for any reason you are not pleased whether the experience or the service please don’t hesitate to let us know, we are here local and we are here for you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For sure I’ll bring my friend to visit Sushi by the Heights first and serve them with our hospitality, then I’ll take them to see the downtown area and go to the museum district area to know more about the locals and story. I would bring my friend to Galveston to have some seafood or go to the local raw bar and fishing is for sure.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One thing that I always remembered is my parents are one of the best mentors, they are the person who made me who I become. My dad comes from the background of the military as a general practitioner who is also a businessman in Indonesia. Being in the military he is very disciplined yet a very father figure. He taught me a lot of things when I was little, including being humble even though I lived in abundance and later also introduced me to the RICH DAD & POOR DAD book from the author Robert Kiyosaki. He was very diplomatic yet very charismatic as well. He always shows love and care to his wife as a loving husband. My mom was also very supportive to him and taught me a lot of things as well. She is very independent as a woman even after my dad passed away. That’s how I always feel grateful and appreciate them in life.
