We had the good fortune of connecting with Neil Gallagher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Neil, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The most crucial decision was surrounding myself with the right people. When starting any business, the people you associate with will determine your success, this can be said for life as well. I am very fortunate to be able to work with my business partners Mike and Kevin.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Owner of Sprocket Roofing and Co-Founder and Vice President of Brighterway Solar. What sets both businesses apart from our competition is our customer service. When you need help, you speak to us directly. There’s no call center, no outsourcing of work, it’s us that you’re dealing with.

I’m most proud of how quickly we established ourselves and gained market share in a very saturated industry. I thought the process would be much slower than it actually was in the beginning. I know it is our team that made it possible to accomplish this. There are many solar and roofing companies in Tampa Bay and I’m very proud of what we’ve been able to do.

There have been many trials and tribulations along the way. There were times in the beginning when I thought everything would fall apart. We were able to push through these challenges and today we are doing better than ever. We have expanded to three locations and cover most of the state. We would not have been able to do this without our team.

Along the way I’ve learned that you’ve got to be kinder to yourself. Know that you’re doing all that you can and at the end of the day, there are certain things that are out of your hands. As long as you’ve given it your all, there’s not much else you can do.

I would love the world to know that we started these companies in order to put our customers first. We saw so many competitors have different priorities and we set out to do things differently.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a big fan of being outdoors, so I would definitely say during this time of year we would be heading to the beach. I always find a great deal of enjoyment in being by the water. I would love to stay several days on the coast and eat locally around wherever we end up.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I again need to thank my business partners for everything they have done for me. Mike had gone above and beyond in helping me navigate this new world.

I would also have to thank my Mom and Dad for all of their support and guidance over the years.

My girlfriend Maya has been super supportive along the way and I can’t thank her enough for her sacrifices.
