We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyra Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyra, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance has been a huge focus in the last few years, especially in the last 5 months since I moved to Houston. Just within the last 5 months, balance has changed drastically for the better! When I think of balance I think of self prioritization and mindfulness. Through many life coach sessions and more, I’ve learned it’s key to listen to my Spirit and surrender control. My Spirit will tell me when I’m imbalanced, which usually points to the lack of prioritizing the things that help me stay balanced – Like making time for hobbies, stillness, self-care habits, etc. Creating a spiritual-work-life balance is one of the key motivators behind my brand Faith In Her.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Faith In Her serves as a connector between one’s lifestyle and purpose. Grounded in faith, we understand that every woman’s journey is beautifully unique. It is our mission to support women at every stage of their journey, empowering them to embrace their God-given gifts and confidently engage in sharing, teaching, and learning within a community of like-minded women.

At Faith In Her, we specially curate intimate experiences for passionate women to flourish! From intimate coffee hangs, empowering cowork seshs, inspiring member-led workshops, and more!

Faith In Her was born out of my personal journey to live wholeheartedly. After pursuing my first job, I began to feel a growing sense of disconnect…quickly. I knew, in the pit of my stomach, that I wouldn’t be able to sustain a career that didn’t fill my heart with purpose. Some years went by, I jumped from job to job, and as I would jokingly say to my friends “I’m just here finding purpose”.

Although my career path was a bit shaky, I found solace in my church community and my relationship with God began to grow exponentially. I was baptized on July 7 2022, and in my newfound walk with Jesus, “I’m still here finding purpose” felt less like a burden and more like a sign to keep exploring what brought joy to my life.

Naturally, I’m a nurturer, host, vibe curator, and enjoy paying attention to the little details. As I walked more in faith, God highlighted these gifts within me. This led to seizing opportunities in event planning, experiential marketing, and leading a women’s connect group at church. It was through these experiences that I discovered my Spirit yearns to be of service to others and curate memorable experiences.

Through Faith In Her, I hope to create a welcoming space for zealous women to cultivate a sense of purpose and fulfillment in both their spiritual and professional lives, while building authentic and meaningful connections.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I’m still fairly new to the city, I’ve been exploring myself and have discovered some amazing spots that I can’t wait to share.

As a coffee enthusiast, I’d recommend hitting up Fifth Vessel, Wild, Refuge, Brass Tacks, and Sunday Press– just a taste of the vibrant coffee scene here! Dining-wise, try Daily Gather for lunch, Postino Heights for brunch, and Trattoria Sofia for dinner.

On the weekends, I’m all about immersing myself in Houston’s rich culture and browsing through the local farmers markets. Saturday mornings are perfect for exploring the Urban Harvest Farmers Market – it’s a great way to experience the local produce and crafts. Also, The Heights Mercantile is another gem. However, my personal favorite is Mala Market – it’s the ultimate destination for supporting local vendors and discovering unique finds.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out Aliyah Joye, Founder of (Blue)m. Collective. Aliyah is someone I met shortly after I moved to Houston and I’m so glad we connected. She’s a woman of faith and many talents. She strives to encourage creatives through diverse mediums from bible studies, dance, consulting, and more!
