We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sierra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The moment I decided to be an entrepreneur I felt it was ideal for my current situation. I took a leap of faith and it ended up turning into a success. I had a game plan, all I needed to do was stay consistent and deliver. It was one of the most life changing moments to focus on myself and my business. In order to not pour into someone or something else but stay focus on my goal , I had to believe that I was capable of getting things done. It opened my eyes to creating a pathway I never dreamed of doing. I now mentor family members and close friends on taking that leap of faith with their master plan.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My pride and joy of 2023 has been working under the title of a Media Correspondent. This line of work introduces you to people of all walks of life and gets me through doors others desire to get through. It all started off with me hopping in the Co-Host seat at KYOK Radio. My passion and energy lead me to working outside events in correlation with the radio show. Once I was able to get my feet wet working and interviewing at events, it all became clear on what needed to be done. Each and every time I am honored to get invited to an event I use my networking skills and talk to the people. That then turn into leads to other outlets and events. The train just kept rolling from there. In this line of business you must stay persistent and stand out from the crowd. I carry an inviting energy and I try to stay smiling in order to keep the engagement interesting. This industry is not easy, but I think about every invitation as a n opportunity to present my brand. I believe all no’s are temporary. I learned to not get discouraged but to keep presenting my brand until It is known in every room I walk in. Working these events lead me into being an Emcee and Red Carpet Host. Sisi W Tha Sauce turned into a brand that is versatile and is fitting for various types of events. If i could give one word of advice, it would be to treat each day like its your last.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I hope they’re a sports fan. I would encourage them to put a soccer game at Shell Energy Stadium on the list, Houston Texans Tailgating at NRG, then enjoy the suite life at Toyota Center for a Houston Rockets game or concert.
For a social night , I would suggest House of Blues. Get a live band and drinks out the deal. I would also love for them to explore outdoor events at night. We would take part in supporting black owned businesses, Trill on Wheels and Riding the downtown streets with Glyders.
If they’re bringing children I would encourage them to try Katy’s Water Park , Baytown’s Water Park and Splashtown.
The Blue lagoon right outside of Houston or Margarittaville in Lake Conroe. Then they can end their trip relaxing on the beach in Galveston as well.
As far as places to eat, there are just too many good eats to name. First timers I would suggest Turkey Leg Hut. Breakfast Klub and Frenchy’s.
If you want to get some shopping done I would highly recommend The Galleria and The Woodlands Mall. While you’re exploring The Woodlands get some concert tickets at Cynthia Woods Pavillion.
Just not enough time in a week to be able to explore all of what Houston has to offer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
On my journey of becoming a media correspondent, I would like to give recognition to Minister Larry Scott and The Not So Christian In Me Show CEO Southern Girl Deniece aka Deniece Edwards. I would also like to thank the Host of Chopping it up with LIl Ron for giving me a space to explore my dreams , Ronald Dickinson.
Last but never least, my children for all of their support and understanding.
