We had the good fortune of connecting with Savaun Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savaun, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up I always watched “Run-DMC, Master-P, J-Prince, S.U.C, Swisha House, & More I knew I wanted to have my own label/company which is “Get Money Nation”(G.M.N) Records, When I 1st started back in 2012 I was seeing more people create their own so I thought to myself if they can do I can too. Now We Have over 350,000 streams/views and so much more to come for the near future and communities we love giving back to the communities!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
( Savaun Young, also known by his stage name Lil Say, was born on November 2nd, 1993 in Conroe Texas. From his heavy hooks and often upbeat flows, balanced with a perfect amount of passion and pain.

Raised in Navasota, Texas with his mother, step-father, and siblings. His passion for rapping began since he could walk, as he states, “My cousin Rondae was rapping on the karaoke around that time. When I seen that, I knew what I wanted & needed to do, but that love for music has always been there” His influences include Al Green, OutKast, Big Pokey, Slim Thug, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, UGK, Scarface, Zro, Chamillionaire, Lil Keke, Fat Pat, Big Hawk, Sauce Walka, Young Dolph & more.

He is also shaped by his life events, which show transparently in his music. [Lil say] “Losing my real dad changed me. At 12 years old my mind state changed. At 24 I lost my closest friend to gun violence. The good doing these shows, interview, videos, and studios sessions is what gives me life and keeps me pushing to the next level.” His goal is to “Capitalize on everything I’m building. Spread my brand, my music, and give knowledge to the people.” He Is CEO Of “Get Money Nation”(G.M.N) [Est.2012] The Record Label!

He currently has around over 350,000 collective streams across all platforms, Nominated For:”Best Lyrics(ZBT AWARDS) & The Down For The Underground (ROOKIE OF THE YEAR), Has Features With Artists Such As:”OTB Fastlane, T-Rell, Bone The Mack, & More”. Also He Has A Non Profit Toy Drive Every Year In December Which Has 5 Locations, & is in the middle of touring.)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m From Conroe,Tx & We Love “BBQ, Soul Food, Mexican Food, Jamaican Food, Much More! I would First take them to “ La Palma” Mexican restaurant which has the best tacos in Montgomery county hands down. Drinks at some of the best Mexican restaurants in town that will fill you with joy and laughter, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t take them to “Kinfolk BQQ” In Duggin, We have so many great people that have their own food businesses and I support every last one! Now last but not least to end the trip we have to stop at “BURGER BOY!” I’ve been eating there since I could remember! A time with “Lil Say” & in my city ima for sure show you a good time !!! And they always come back to the city even without me and be good wherever they go!
