We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathalie Mejia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathalie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I wanted to pursue a career in this field because I love being able to do something that I am able to create and design from the ground up. I am able to create fun set designs for holidays, cake smashes, maternity and newborn sessions. I am a digital artist and I can edit, mold and define my work how I want to. The best part… That’s why my clients book with me!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a fine art photographer that specializes in maternity, newborn, and family photography. I am so proud of my growth and how much I have improved in my craft. I started out in 2019 and would take photos of my kids. I learned how to use my camera by watching tutorials and just going out every day and capturing everything. It was very nerve-wracking at first going into a new business, not knowing if you will succeed or fail. I took a chance and thankfully, now I do what I love, and I make people smile and capture beautiful moments. My goal with every session and every client I meet is to create an experience for them that they will talk about on the ride home and 5 years later. I want to make my clients feel beautiful and powerful. My business is named after my angel baby that’s in heaven and I always feel a part of her goes into every session I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friends out to see the sights in houston, the museums are so nice here. If it’s rodeo season we would obviously go to the rodeo. Houston has so many brunch spots that are amazing, so we’d probably go eat brunch and get some good cocktails.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give huge shout outs to my mentors, Deborah Koch and Sara Hunt, they are amazing photographers in the Houston area. I loved being their mentee and learned so much from them in all aspects of photography. From business down to how to pose and capture models.
