We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Slusky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Greg, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started in Commercial Real Estate, coming out of the Restaurant background, I was coming in full steam. After several years, and two companies, I realized my value was greater than what any company could provide me. I had to go over all my deals, layout the pros/cons and consult with others in my field that started their own companies. Once the choice was made and I knew it was the smart decision, I never looked back! Aside from setting up offices, insurance, research teams and items I needed to run the business, it was 100% the best decision in the end.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Following going out on my own, I knew I did not want to start a large shop with a bunch of overhead. Being a small boutique office, with one person working with me, I have been able to fucus on the clients needs and wants VS office staff and overhead. I have developed great relationships in the market and word of mouth has been the best method of creating new business. Being small, we have been able to work hands on and more importantly we are more accessible to our clients.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Most of the firms’ clients are not local. I must entertain from time to time. From taking my clients to the Texans or Astors we do some dining and drinks following long days in the car looking at new sites. This city is perfect for this, from food to concerts and other activities. We give our clients choices and then we deliver to what they want. Our food in the city is spot on. We drive a lot of miles looking for new sites, so we tend to hit places during these times.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Before I started my own company, I had to reach out to several people to see if I was missing something on my new venture. I was in constant contact with my Dad older brother. The two of them have combined experience for over 60 years at the time and both were able to give me ideas and suggestions. With the support of them and the insight I got, I know I was making the correct decision and had the support if I needed questions answered.
