We had the good fortune of connecting with Lottie Dyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lottie, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business/career has taught me is that I can trust my creativity and ideas. It’s shown me the importance of trusting the flow of the creative process and being flexible enough to adapt to unexpected turns and pivots, which often lead to better outcomes. Additionally, I’ve learned effective brainstorming techniques and the significance of gathering and structuring information to build a solid foundation for my ideas.

Also, my business has provided valuable lessons in professional skills such as hospitality, customer service, time management, efficiency, and organization. Developing strong analytical skills has been essential in understanding the customer’s perspectives. I continue to learn and grow, recognizing that these skills are essential for the success and quality of my business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As I continue to refine my unique artistic style, I’ve gained clarity in my vision and purpose. What sets my art apart is its deep connection to my personal experiences. It’s been a journey filled with ups and downs, each challenge shaping how I approach creativity today. Learning to trust my creative instincts has been key, along with embracing the twists and turns that often lead to unexpected yet rewarding outcomes. I’ve also discovered the power of effective brainstorming and the importance of laying a solid foundation for my ideas through gathering and structuring information.

I want to share with the community that everything I create is crafted with quality, heart, and intention. I want y’all to stay inspired but true to yourself, embrace originality while being inspired. No one is like you and thats your advantage, that is what sets you apart. Stay authentic to your core and your alignment, never sway from that. Also be patient in the journey, it’s not a race, all of our paths are uniquely written for us. So keep showing up for yourself, love what you do and pour your heart into it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In the spirit of the Shoutout series, I want to express my gratitude to those who have played a significant role in my journey. Firstly, I dedicate my shoutout to God, whose guidance has been a constant source of strength. Next, my heartfelt appreciation goes to my parents and brothers, whose unwavering support sustains me every day. A special mention goes to Texas Southern University, especially the incredible friends and connections I found in the art department. Your presence during the toughest times in my life fueled both my personal and artistic growth, making you an indispensable part of my story. Lastly, I want to honor my cousin, Darius Clark Monroe, a talented filmmaker and mentor figure in my life. His guidance has been valuable beyond estimation, and I’m truly blessed to have him by my side.
