We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashia Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Reformation Massage & Bodywork opened its doors in the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Just like the rest of the world I was laid off from my job and isolated away from family and friends outside of my home. I took on the role as caretaker & teacher to my daughter and granddaughter. During this time I had many of my regular clients who had been receiving regular massage therapy for pain management as well as mental and emotional stress relief reaching out to me in hopes that we could continue treatment throughout the shutdown. I decided to begin providing in home service for my clients. It provide to be beneficial for both my clients and myself. When the state of Texas relaxed it’s shutdown policy I decide not to return to my employment and open a private practice offering a reasonable rate keeping in mind the state of the economy and the need to provide a much needed service to my clients.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a very funny question since I have only been in TX myself for 7 years I am still exploring and finding all the jewels TX has to offer. I would have to lean on my partner & friends for fun things to do all through the wineries have been my absolute favorite part of Texas thus far
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to say Les Lang founder of Syn Stylez. Les is a Veteran and owns several businesses including Synt With Love a non profit organization giving back to the underprivileged communities in the Houston area. He is my biggest cheerleader and encourages me daily to strive for what I believe in and live my dreams.
