Meet David Mills | Community Leader

We had the good fortune of connecting with David Mills and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind our success is the people within our organization and their passion for our mission. People make all of the difference and without a great team there is no success. Another important factor behind our success is staying true to our mission and core values.

Our mission is to reduce fatality and injury resulting from non-seatbelt use through awareness, education, and community involvement. We are dedicated to the growth of our organization because that allows us to help more people and impact more lives through our work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When people ask me what I do for a living, I smile and ask them “which part”? For money, I own a construction company, Magnolia Patio and Pool, and that pays the bills.

But giving back and helping others is what fulfills my heart. I have a non-profit charity organization called the Kailee Mills Foundation, which we created in memory of our beloved 16 year old daughter who passed away in a tragic car crash in 2017.

I’m passionate about making our community safer, so I also serve the community as Commissioner of Harris County Emergency Services District 7, better known as Spring Fire Department.

What sets me apart from others and what I’m most proud of is my passion for making a positive impact on the world. Another aspect that sets me apart is my hunger for learning. Self-development is something that I have always been focused on because I know there are so many things I want to be better at. My competitive drive makes me strive to be the best at whatever it is I’m doing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a foodie and love BBQ so I would take them to Tejas Chocolate + BBQ in downtown Tomball and load up on the best beef ribs on the planet. Another must-try is Goodson’s Cafe, an iconic local favorite voted best chicken fried steak in Texas, they have that southern home-cooked flavor and atmosphere.

Some of my favorite places to grab a few drinks is anywhere in The Woodlands Waterway or Two Tones Piano Bar, love the vibe and atmosphere of those places.

Depending on what time of the year it is, I’d take them to a Houston Astros game, Texans game, Houston Rodeo or cookoff, and Lake Conroe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my son for the inspiration he gives me to set a good example for him. Through our work, we are proving to him every day that no matter how horrible the circumstances seem, God is always working towards good for those who love Him and for those who are called according to His purpose. Even in tragedy, something good will come out of it but you have to be focused on the positive things around you in order to see it.
