We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelley Workman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelley, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Most everything had been done before you and some shape or fashion, So find a good mentor or someone who’s doing something similar that’s doing it successfully and emulate. Iron sharpens iron, get help!

What should our readers know about your business?
I have always been an entrepreneur from an early age. I started working at 14 years old for a small mom & pop shop in Baybrook Mall in 1985. From then on I new I wanted to be my own boss. I married in 1993 to a serial entrepreneur and we began opening numerous businesses over the 20+ years together, from medical clinics to physical therapy clinics, boat dock building companies to house building projects then onto commercial buildings and more.

My current business was born right before the covid shutdown. I had been into fitness since I was 14 yeas told. Over the years I became certified in pilates, yoga, personal training and then decided to get a masters in nutrition. Going through my own midlife-menopause journey, i wanted to help other women who were struggling with their midlife journey. I have built my brand authentically through word of mouth, hosting retreats and helping others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Houston is home to some of the best food in the country. Must stay at the Post Oak Hotel, vist the oak room and take yoga on the helipad at sunset. Some of my favorite places to eat in no particular order are Bluedorn, Katami, The Blind Goat, Truth BBQ, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, Xochi, Nancy’s Hustle (best little gem), Crawfish & Noodles, Musaafer, Albi, Coppa.

Must head to Galveston check out San Luis and the pier along with The Strand. Nasa is alway a draw for first timers and cannot miss the numerous museum’s in the medical center area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I had to pick one person that has had probably the most influence in my life now, its Dr. Susan Hardwick Smith. I met her about 4 years ago and being around her not only as a patient, but a friends and colleague has completely changed my mind in what’s possible in midlife.

I could never tell a recognition story without my parents. My parents divorced when I was 3 but my dad (& step-mom Alice) were always in my life in a big way. My mom remarried a wonderful man, Jim years later. I had a very traditional 90’s upbringing with all my parents giving me the chance to succeed and fail. As a parent to 6 children of my own, I really remember some of my youthful lessons my parents taught me and forward those to my own family.
