Meet Joanna Suazo | Owner | Lead Bartender

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joanna Suazo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joanna, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a single mom to a 7-year-old, I believe the most important thing I’ve done is lead by example. I want him to see that no matter how challenging life can be, it’s possible to pursue your goals with determination, faith, and hard work.
I work full-time in healthcare, run my mobile bartending business – Its JoJo, LLC, and I’m currently completing my master’s degree; all while making sure I’m present for my son. It isn’t always easy, and balance isn’t perfect every day, but I want him to understand the value of perseverance, responsibility, and resilience.
More than anything, I want him to know that he can achieve his dreams without giving up on the people he loves. By watching me navigate motherhood, entrepreneurship, education, and a career, I hope he learns that challenges don’t define you – how you respond to them does. If my journey teaches him to believe in himself, work hard, and keep moving forward despite obstacles, then I feel I’ve made the greatest impact I can as a parent.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is that Its JoJo, LLC was built from passion, perseverance, and a desire to create memorable experiences for people while building a better future for my family. Every event I book represents hard work, sacrifice, and a commitment to my vision.
Its JoJo, LLC is a mobile bartending business serving Houston and the surrounding areas. We specialize in bringing professional, personalized bartending services directly to our clients, helping turn special occasions into unforgettable celebrations. For me, it’s not just about serving drinks – it’s about creating an experience that people will remember long after the event is over.
Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy. Like many small business owners, I faced challenges with funding, marketing, balancing family responsibilities, and finding the time to grow my business while maintaining a full-time career. There were moments when I questioned whether I could do it all, but I kept moving forward one step at a time.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success doesn’t happen overnight. Consistency, resilience, and being willing to learn are what make the difference. I’ve learned to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and to never be afraid to ask for help or seek guidance from others.
What I want people to know about me and my brand is that Its JoJo, LLC is built on authenticity, professionalism, and heart. Every client is treated like family, and every event matters to us. My story is proof that you don’t have to choose between being a parent, pursuing an education, building a career, or following your entrepreneurial dreams. With determination, faith, and hard work, it’s possible to create something meaningful while inspiring others along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Houston for a week, I’d want them to experience a little bit of everything that makes this city special—great food, diverse culture, local gems, and of course a trip to the coast.
Day 1: Welcome to Houston
I’d start with lunch at Niko Niko’s, one of my favorite spots for Greek food. Afterward, we’d explore downtown Houston, Discovery Green, and catch the skyline views. For dinner, we’d find a local spot with live music and enjoy Houston’s nightlife.
Day 2: Houston Food Tour
Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the country, so food is a must. We’d grab lunch at Biryani Pot for amazing Indian cuisine and spend the afternoon exploring local neighborhoods and small businesses. Dinner would be at Captain Benny’s for fresh Gulf Coast seafood.
Day 3: Museum District & Culture
We’d spend the day visiting Houston’s Museum District, checking out a few museums and Hermann Park. In the evening, we’d relax and enjoy one of Houston’s many outdoor patios.
Day 4: Galveston Getaway
No Houston-area trip would be complete without Galveston. We’d spend the day at the beach, walk along the Seawall, explore The Strand, and enjoy the laid-back coastal atmosphere. We’d stay for sunset because that’s one of my favorite parts of visiting the island.
Day 5: Local Favorites
Lunch would be at Bubba’s Burger Shack for one of the best burgers in town. We’d spend the afternoon shopping local markets or attending a community event, depending on what’s happening that weekend.
Day 6: Hidden Gems & Family Fun
Houston has so many hidden gems, from parks and trails to unique neighborhoods and cultural festivals. We’d spend the day exploring some of those local treasures that many tourists don’t get to see.
Day 7: Relax and Reflect
For the last day, we’d enjoy brunch, revisit a favorite spot from the week, and take in everything that makes Houston feel like home—its diversity, its people, and its incredible food scene.
What makes Houston special to me isn’t just the attractions—it’s the people. You can experience cultures from around the world without ever leaving the city. Whether you’re enjoying authentic food, spending a day in Galveston, supporting local businesses, or attending a community event, there’s always something new to discover. As someone who was born and raised in Houston, it’s a city I’m proud to call home because it truly offers something for everyone.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d definitely like to dedicate this shoutout to my family and friends. They’ve been my support system throughout every stage of my journey. As a single mom balancing a full-time career, entrepreneurship, grad school, and raising my son, there have been many moments when their encouragement, advice, and willingness to help made all the difference.
They have celebrated my successes, supported me through challenges, and reminded me to keep going when things felt overwhelming. No one achieves their goals completely alone, and I’m grateful to have people in my corner who believe in me and my vision.
I also want to recognize my son. He is one of my biggest motivations and the reason I continue pushing myself to grow personally and professionally. Everything I do is not only to build a better future for us but also show him the importance of resilience, hard work, and pursuing your dreams.
This journey may have my name on it, but it has been shaped by love, support, and encouragement of the people around me.
