We had the good fortune of connecting with Dual Assassyns and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dual, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes, my favorite quote or affirmation is “Never look at things that happen to you as a bad thing, always look at them as lessons and remain positive moving forward”. Reading this quote I take from it that no matter what is going on in your life first remain positive always and then make sure to look at every situation as a lesson and learning experience because dwelling on the negative situation can keep you stagnant versus taking it as a lesson and learning experience can propel you forward. The thing I like about this quote is that it is full of positivity and all about moving forward in a positive direction, no matter what the negative situation is.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Dual Assassyns photography/videography company is a business that originated in Dallas, TX. The company was started by a mom and daughter. What sets us apart from others is that we genuinely build close connections with our clients that last a life time. We ensure that our clients are always comfortable when shooting with us and we let them be their genuine, most authentic selves. I am most proud of the growth experienced since we started this business, even through every great and terrible thing that we have endured. We are excited for the continued growth within our business, the connections we make as we grow and just the overall blessings we are destined to receive. We got to where we are today by staying humble, working hard and ensuring that whenever there is a problem within our business we work hard to resolve it and have great communication. Was it easy? No, this journey definitely has not been easy but it has been worth it because of all of the lessons we have learned thus far. We have overcame each challenge that we have encountered by facing the challenges head on, staying faithful and working together to resolve the issues. We have learned many lessons along the way, such as realizing every client is different and the true meaning of never mix personal with business. We have also learned to always have multiple portable hard drives and lastly, to keep the faith even when it seems like all odds are stacked against you; REMAIN HUMBLE! We would like the world to know that we are just like everyone else. We had a dream and we started to take it day by day to fulfill it and if you have a dream or passion, you too can fulfill it. Just be faithful and take it day by day. Also, stay true to the journey and believe that you will be successful before starting because remaining positive in the midst of chaos helps to make it easier.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week long trip in Houston, TX:

Monday- To start off Monday, we would get out and do some sight seeing once I finish up with work so that I could show her some of the scenery in downtown Houston. Once we would finish up with that, I am sure we would both be hungry so I would take them to one of my favorite burger spots Smash burger for some lunch and then we would probably just finish off the day relaxing and probably go out and get some dinner at taste kitchen and bar. Finish off the night doing a tad bit more sight seeing before going home.

Tuesday- Tuesday would kind of be on the same type of vibes as Monday, due to it being a weekday but I would attempt to find an activity that we could go and do. Maybe go to one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Rosenburg area for taco Tuesday. Depending on how the day is going, we may go and visit an art gallery.

Wednesday- Middle of the week, Wednesday we would get out and enjoy the weather if the weather is not being bipolar lol. We would go out and enjoy the Houston mid-week vibes during the day, grab some food from Micheaux’s Southern Cuisine and then that night we would be at The Flat for reggae night.

Thursday- Thursday, closer to the weekend. We would start the day by either just getting out to see more of Houston or do an activity, then get some food and drinks from the Bungalow. As the day goes on, we would probably just relax until it was time to go to Cliq Lounge for karaoke night from 9pm-2am.

Friday- Finally the weekend! For the Friday weekend vibes, we would go to Lost and Found for food and great vibes. Then later that night we would either go to a lounge or Kamp Houston.

Saturday- We would get brunch at the Warwick and just see what is going on in the city that day/evening.

Sunday- We would get brunch at another brunch place, then we would go to the park for Jazzy Sundays.

Monday- We would say our goodbyes and I would prepare for my week ahead.

This is our idea of a fun week in Houston, TX, with many fun, interesting, exciting people and places or things. Can’t leave out impromptu photoshoots while my best friend is in town for content.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to two people. First, I want to shoutout God for just guided me throughout this entire process of becoming a better business owner, photographer/videographer and individual overall. I would also like to shoutout my mom/business partner. She has been my backbone throughout my entire life and throughout this entire process thus far of becoming a successful photographer/videographer, business owner and individual overall. The support I get from both of my shoutouts is unmatched, even when I think they both have stopped being there for me they show up right on time to let me know they are always there and have my back. I am so grateful for my shoutouts and continued love, care and support they continue to show me.
