We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrance Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terrance, how do you define success?
Success is fulfilling your purpose in life. It’s answering the call in your life by stewarding everything in front of you well. Whether you are a husband, wife, father, mother, employee, or entrepreneur, work it with all your heart, not for your pride or to boast, but out of your love and devotion to God, Jesus Christ.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Working full-time at a church is not something I dreamed about growing up. I wouldn’t say I liked it for the majority of my life. I believe this is one of the main reasons I now work at one, and I’ll never forget this saying from my father: “You’re typically anointed for whatever annoys you the most.”
This background has helped me connect our church experiences to people who didn’t like or understand the Christian church. I’m excited for the future of Higher Dimension and how we will change how people view the church without compromising the integrity of the Bible.
You could imagine working for your father will be challenging in any arena. Add that to a church setting, plus trying to shift the culture for a new generation after the church is over a decade old… that’s even more challenging. But through it all, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that patience is essential to growth for individuals and organizations. It takes time to
Implement actual change, and with patience, discipline, and the right motives, I’ve discovered that God’s timing is perfect.
What I feel people need to know about Higher Dimension is that our goal is to inspire you to follow Jesus Christ, not just believe. It’s one thing to believe in Him; it’s another to believe in him to the point you follow His teachings. But when you do, you discover the fulfilling life that God always intended for you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
HOUSTON has grown so much since I’ve been here. There are hundreds of places to enjoy yourself, no matter what you like; it’s one of the reasons I love our city.
If I had to show some friends a good time while they were here, then I would have to make sure we visit the following:
Higher Dimension Church to help make life better, Kata Robota for some of the best sushi and customer service I’ve ever experienced, Level One Fitness to get a training session in because physical health is essential to living a fulfilling life, the galleria, and river oaks district because I love fashion and lastly, you can never go wrong with dinner at Steak 48.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for God. He has gotten me this far and surrounded me with some fantastic people. I am starting with my wife, Kiana, my twin boys, Tori and Taj, and my little girls, Teivah and Torah. Our TKJ family, as we call it, is a critical pillar in how God has molded me into the man I am today, and I still have a long way to go. Next would be my parents, Terrance H. And Torsha. Our relationship has developed much more in our later years and has become a pivotal part of where I am today.
