Meet Patrick Burkholder | President

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Burkholder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patrick, how do you think about risk?
No risk, no reward as cliché as that may sound. I grew up with one side of my family being engineers and entrepreneurs, the other, farmers. When I made it out of my adolescent days, I found myself stuck in working 12-16 hour days. Hating every second. About 8 years in, I had an associate of mine bring up roofing. I thought on it for about a week. At the time I was working in a machine shop that was on their 5th round of lay offs. I didn’t want to feel what those others felt when they got that call to come into the office. Some had worked there for a decade and just like that, “you’re done”. I went into work that Monday morning, there was a crazy storm going on outside. Hail and everything. It stopped early afternoon. This guy called me and said, “could there be anymore of a sign?!”. I closed my toolbox and went to let the uppers know that I was quitting. Walked out that day and never looked back. I tripled my salary that year. Without taking that risk I wouldn’t have the mindset or be anywhere near where I am today. I tell my team this all the time, take the risks that you can take now, sacrifice now and it’ll change your life. I’ve watched so many of my team members change their entire life with us and that’s such a huge honor to hold. I’m also proud to say that Skyline Designs Roofing & Restoration is one of the elite in Houston/Cypress and Kingwood. We are dedicated to our clients and strive to bring 1st class service every single time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Me and my business partner, Alvin Araoz, have known each other for almost 3 decades. We came together right at the beginning of covid and decided to open Skyline Designs Roofing & Restoration. I came from a decade long background in Roofing and insurance claims work. He came from a decade of owning a painting business. I was so used to training sales guys throughout my career and enjoyed it. I would meet guys that were almost broke and depressed or guys that was just looking for a change, then turn them all the way around. I have guys I trained to this day still with other roofing companies and they’re doing amazing. It humbles me to know that I had that impact on anyone’s life. When it comes to Skyline, the brand, I want people to see honesty, family members, and supporters of the community. Our community is so important to us. We are Sponsoring organizations like the Bridgeland Marching Band, we have several little league teams and are always looking to give back to the community that has accepted us so well.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Best places to eat in Houston are going to be southwest Houston, the heights and memorial/ city center area

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without the encouragement growing up from my late parents I wouldn’t be who I am.
They always told me that it was me in the end. I had to come through for me. If I didn’t come through for me then how could I come through for anyone. I credit everything to my parents.
