Hi VanillaAíday, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being a model, I am my own business. When it come to risks, as a model; I GENUINELY love a risk!! A risk shows me how much I actually want, & how much effort and determination I have towards getting it. A risk is a confidence & self esteem boost. A major risk I took when I was 22 was, literally packing a suitcase full of clothes, getting on a plane with $200 to Los Angeles CA pursuing solemnly modeling. While also starting a complete new life as an African American woman of trans identity. To simplify for some. I came out as transgender. Mind you I was 24, turning 25 in 3 months. If that’s not a risk.. I don’t what is.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art lives at the intersection of fashion, storytelling, and advocacy. As a model, performer, and creative, I use my platform to celebrate authenticity, resilience, and joy. What sets me apart is that my work is deeply personal. Every runway, campaign, and project is rooted in lived experience and the belief that visibility can change lives. My journey professionally was anything but easy. I overcame years of instability, homelessness, and personal hardships while pursuing my dreams and embracing my identity. Through perseverance, community, and a commitment to growth, I learned that success is not defined by how quickly you arrive, but by the courage to keep going. I am most proud of building a life and brand that encourages others to show up as themselves unapologetically. I want the world to know that my story is one of transformation, hope, and possibility. My greatest goal is not simply to be seen, but to help others feel seen, loved, and inspired to dream bigger for themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to Seattle for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the city through a mix of culture, nature, nightlife, and community. We’d start our mornings with coffee and pastries before wandering Pike Place Market and watching the sunset at Kerry Park. We’d spend an afternoon exploring the Seattle Art Museum and the waterfront, then catch live music or a drag show in Capitol Hill. No trip would be complete without a ferry ride, a day trip to Bainbridge Island, and a stroll through the Washington Park Arboretum or Volunteer Park Conservatory. For food, I’d introduce them to some of Seattle’s incredible Asian cuisine, cozy brunch spots, and late night bites after dancing with friends. During the summer, we’d check out Bumbershoot, neighborhood markets, and rooftop gatherings with views of the skyline. More than anything, I’d want them to experience the people who make Seattle special. The artists, creatives, and queer community here have helped shape who I am. Seattle taught me that beauty exists in authenticity, and I think the best memories are made when you slow down, embrace the moment, and let the city surprise you.

To my why!!! To little me, little Vanilla. I want to thank her for giving me the dreams & aspirations to keep going & keep chasing something!! Along with my amazing friends that help push me to be the best model & women daily. And last but not least.. GOD, that man loves me, what can I say.
