We had the good fortune of connecting with Kurchi Basu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kurchi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
In 2021, I began accompanying friends’ dogs to their weddings, drawing on my extensive experience of fostering over fifty dogs. I noticed that many people hesitate to include their pets in special events, seeing it as an extra hassle they just don’t have the capacity to handle. But I see it differently. Pets have a remarkable way of grounding us and helping us appreciate the moment amidst the chaos of a special event. Including a furry companion in the celebration isn’t just an add-on; it’s a meaningful expression of love and care as a couple. Earlier this year, I officially launched my LLC in the State of Texas to help more people include their best friends in their best day. Amidst the hustle and bustle of a wedding, pets bring a unique joy and help us ‘paws’ to reflect on what truly matters. I’m deeply committed to ensuring that no celebration is complete without these beloved companions, making sure they play an integral role in every special day.

Pawsitive Moments, LLC is all about helping couples include their furry family members in life’s biggest celebrations—especially weddings! What sets us apart is our event-focused approach: we provide full-service pet care on the big day, managing everything from transportation to coordination with vendors. Our mission goes beyond business—we donate a portion of our profits to animal rescues, combining our love for pets with a commitment to giving back.

Getting here wasn’t easy. We started with a passion for fostering dogs, having cared for over 50 rescues, and built this business from a simple idea. The challenge was turning that love into a service others would trust for such personal, high-stakes moments like weddings. But with determination, support from the University of Houston’s SURE Program, and a lot of learning, we’ve grown into something I’m proud of. Along the way, I learned that success takes patience, resilience, and always keeping your “why” at the center of what you do.

The world should know that Pawsitive Moments exists to make the day special not just for people but for their pets too, making unforgettable memories while supporting the rescue community that gave us our start.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a huge shoutout to my incredible friends who entrusted me with their pets and invited me to bring their dogs to their weddings, even before Pawsitive Moments became an official business. Their trust and love laid the foundation for what I do today. I’m also thankful to Rescued Pets Movement, who have trusted me as a foster—an experience that’s been invaluable in building my skills and deepening my love for working with animals. I’m deeply grateful to the University of Houston’s SURE Program for helping me craft a solid business plan, and to the UH Law Clinic for guiding me in creating comprehensive service agreements and securing the right insurance. These experiences have not only shaped Pawsitive Moments but have also ensured that every client can enjoy peace of mind on their special day.
