We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Meave and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Understanding your “why” is important. There are always challenges and doubts, but when I find myself questioning if I should continue, I go back to why I started in the first place. If the passion is still there, and if I can see even small signs of progress or impact, I know I’m on the right path.

Sometimes, though, you have to be realistic about whether what you’re pursuing still aligns with your goals. I’ve had to pivot a few times throughout my career, and each shift has brought me closer to the work that fulfills me. It’s all about adapting and being flexible while still staying true to your core values.

I’ve actually had to put several endeavors on hold—like my jewelry line, my monthly subscription box, a ghost hunt and scavenger hunt business, expanding my nonprofit to other major cities and states, and even my candle shop. It wasn’t easy, but sometimes you have to make room for the other ideas that need your full attention in the moment.

Each of those projects holds a special place for me, and I believe that when the time is right, I’ll come back to them with even more experience and insight. I’ve learned that it’s okay to pause and prioritize. This way, I can give my all to what’s most impactful right now, while keeping the door open to revisiting those ventures in the future.

So, if the spark is there, keep going and maybe tweak your approach. But if the journey no longer aligns with your purpose, giving up is just making room for something better.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is all about blending real estate with digital media and community impact. What sets me a part is my passion for storytelling. I love creating engaging content that not only showcases properties but also highlights the amazing communities they’re a part of. Whether I’m producing a fashion show with Nigel Barker and Make-A-Wish Foundation, listing a client’s childhood home or crafting a marketing campaign for one of the nation’s biggest insurance companies, I’m driven to connect people with their dreams and goals.

My journey hasn’t always been easy. Transitioning from over 15 years in business operations to becoming a licensed realtor and digital media professional was a big leap! I faced my fair share of challenges, but I learned to embrace them. With the support of my husband, I discovered that resilience is key. Whenever I stumbled, I focused on adapting and learning instead of giving up.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be authentic. Staying true to yourself and your values creates real connections. It’s not just about transactions; it’s about building relationships and uplifting each other.

What I want the world to know is that I’m all about connection—connecting people to their dream homes, to one another, and to meaningful causes. My story is one of passion and evolution, and I’m excited to inspire others to follow their own journeys!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Houston for a week, we’d start with breakfast near our loft at Common Bond Café Downtown to fuel up for the day. For the best Mexican food, we’d definitely hit up Space City Birria Tacos, and I’d insist on sushi from RA Sushi because I absolutely ADORE sushi.

To look fresh, we’d swing by Brass HTX Barbershop for a haircut before enjoying some drinks and exceptional service at Deans Downtown. A jog or stroll along the bayou or memorial park would be a perfect way to soak in the scenery, and we’d definitely visit one of Houston’s iconic Botanic Gardens.

For a little pampering, we’d get a hydrafacial and fresh Botox at Haus of Skin Aesthetics. We’d also check out Post Houston for some stunning views. Of course, we can’t miss catching a game—whether it’s the Texans, Astros, or Rockets, the energy is always a vibe! And to wrap it up, we’d grab a slice from Franks Pizza downtown. There’s truly so much to explore and enjoy in this magical city, we would honestly do so much more upon arrival.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to start by dedicating this to my husband, Salvador Meave, who has been my rock, my guide, and my biggest supporter. His unwavering belief in me has kept me grounded and motivated through every twist and turn. I truly couldn’t have done this without him by my side!

Professionally, I owe so much to amazing groups like The Montrose Center and West University Moms. They’ve been incredible partners and have shown me the magic of community connection and collaboration. And I can’t forget my dad, Mario Meave! He has always taught me that life is too short to take too seriously, reminding me to stay calm and confident. His insights into business management have been a game changer for me, guiding me through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.

And of course, I’m beyond proud of my nonprofit, ActOutHTX. Founding it has been one of the greatest joys of my life, fueled by an amazing team dedicated to advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights and uplifting underrepresented voices in medicine and beyond. The passion and commitment of everyone involved keep that fire alive and remind me every day why I started this journey.

I’m so grateful for all the support and love I’ve received along the way—it’s what keeps me inspired and ready to take on whatever comes next!
