We had the good fortune of connecting with Jailyn “rose” Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jailyn “Rose”, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The cornerstone behind my success is my faith in God. By seeking His guidance, I align my work with my purpose, which provides me with the clarity and motivation to chase my passions. For me success means embodying my values of love, honesty, and truth, which not only fulfills my personal goals but also reinforces the mission of my brand.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a spoken word artist and an aspiring journalist, driven by a purpose to uplift and support those who feel unheard. My work reflects truth and honesty, and I strive to be a credible source in my writing, whether it’s poetry, stories, or reviews. What sets me apart is my storytelling, which is always from a first-person perspective. I immerse my audience in the experiences and worlds I live in, capturing the real-life events that shape my narratives.
I’m excited about the future and the impact I aim to have across generations. Recently, I had the opportunity to conduct on-the-spot interviews at South by Southwest in Austin and flew to Atlanta for a music summit, where I interviewed artists and captured footage of their performances. Additionally, I’ve hosted and MC’d my own open mics with my team, TriFecta, which was a fun and rewarding experience. I’m also in the process of writing my first poetry book and have several interviews lined up.
I’m proud of my growth and testimony, especially in overcoming the challenges I faced during a physically abusive relationship three years ago. This period caused me to lose my creativity and happiness, but I reached a pivotal moment when I decided to reclaim my life and passions. Since then, I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
I want the world to know that my brand embodies themes of authenticity, resilience, and empowerment. I believe in the transformative power of love and truth, and I aim to create a community where everyone feels encouraged to share their stories. Leaning on the truth will set you free, and your calling is unique to you, so take the steps to pursue it—change doesn’t happen overnight, but every step counts. So, what are you waiting for?!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, we’d head straight to Deep Ellum, the heart of Dallas’ music scene and where I used to work at The Freeman Cafe(TFM). We’d catch a live show at TFM because some of the most talented musicians in the area perform there regularly—like RC & The Gritz, who are Grammy-winning, and artists like Justin Crump and Church For The World, as well as Ravs & The Akrylx. If we’re lucky, Erykah Badu might stop in, as she has a few times in the past. Plus, reconnecting with my old coworkers behind the bar would make it even more special.
We’d also make time for The Love Mic at Granada Theatre, an open mic that has been so meaningful in my own creative expression. It’s a great place to catch the local talent pouring their hearts out, and it always inspires me.
During the day, we’d explore The Fabrication Yard for some mind-blowing street art, then check out a museum or two for some local culture. When it comes to food, we’d keep it eclectic—whether it’s Cajun flavors at TFM, a seafood boil at My Crab Shack, or Italian comfort food at Maggiano’s, we’d cover all the bases. And for dessert, nothing beats the ice cream at Marble Slab or the experience at Creamistry.
To cap the nights off, we’d hit up a rooftop bar with views of the city skyline or catch more live music at one of Deep Ellum’s iconic venues. It’d be a week packed with soul, great food, and unforgettable moments—showing my friend what I love about the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Is it okay if I mention God again?
I’d like to give a shoutout to God and my family. God has been my backbone, ever-present and unwavering. My family has always encouraged me through life’s ups and downs, helping me face each new obstacle. I’d also like to honor my late great-grandmother, who passed away the day before my 19th birthday. She always believed in me, and accepted me for who I am. I recently found a letter from her where she wrote, ‘You dig for success with the spade of efforts.’ This has become a guiding principle for me and a reminder of her enduring influence in my life.
