We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristina Marin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cristina, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I believe it’s been positive role, if you do not take risk you’ll never see the outcome, good or bad you always gain the experience. It’s never a loss to take the risk.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart it has to be the ambition to gain knowledge from any situation. To strive to be able to do things regardless of how hard people indicate that they will be. I make it a personal goal to achieve it. To get to where I am now it took a lot of decision making I had to be sharp, cut negative energy and focus on what I could accomplish. I came a long way from a simple barista, to a bartender, then a sales associate to now a business owner. Definitely not easy at all, to many “you can’t” or “it’s impossible” from there I knew those words did not existed for me, I couldn’t afford to add them to my personal vocabulary. I gained strength from the previous situation in life which I believe many can relate, the living paycheck to paycheck. I’ve learned that if you do not make a change for yourself no one else is going to do it, all it takes is a decision and willpower, remember where there’s a will there’s a way! I want people to know that Flash Furniture Houston is definitely a furniture store that will treat you with care, we will not take advantage of our people because we want the community to view us as that one place where you can comfortably update your home furniture and also feel like you paid a reasonable price. We have experience before what was like not being able to be fair to people because we worked for someone else, but now control is on our hands and most importantly the trust of people is now safe because we know what the community needs and wants, and that’s the best costumer care possible!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely start by taking a trip to the best coffee shop in downtown, Amilles coffee shop, take a bite at a pistachio muffin, they are amazing! Then head to one of the festivals, if it’s fall definitely the renaissance festival, but if it’s summer, Kemah has the best activities and definitely great prices! Concerts are always a thing in Houston so why not grab a ticket to the next concert. Omg let’s not forget the Astros!!! Get you a Margarita and enjoy game day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely say 4 people, Kenia Lara, Kevin Lara, Issamary De Leon. & my mother! They did incredible things and did not asked for absolutely nothing back, it all came from the kindness of their heart, and that is rare to find.
