We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Boudreaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Houston, TX. Both my mother and my father are from Louisiana, so we visit all the time. Being raised in the city with country roots allows me to see and experience the best of both worlds. Family, community, services for others, those are the forces that drive me to continue pushing daily. I credit my parents for instilling kindness and compassion in me as well as a strong work ethic. I take lessons from my childhood and experiences from later years to continue making improvements of self to help strengthen the community.

What should our readers know about your business?
Mentoring Mighty Minds was established as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization in September of 2020. In that brief time we have made partnerships with school districts in Houston and other organizations in the surrounding area in order to reach a population that is in need of positive influences in the African-American male community. Mentoring Mighty Minds mission is to raise awareness of self; spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, within young men ranging from grades 6 to 12. As we strive to “Bring out the Brilliance” of every young person involved, we emphasize the steady and confident mindset that their current situation is not the totality of their existence. Our efforts will produce a new strong culture within this generation: In order to do better, we must first begin to expect better. Mentoring Mighty Minds is unique in its purpose because we have put an emphasis on building a sense of responsibility and ownership in establishing grounds of guidance and support around young African-American males. With this program and through its activities, we plan to reach young males across the city in efforts to heighten the level of academic and social interaction among our special demographic. As members of Mentoring Mighty Minds, students/teachers, mentees/mentors will be involved in activities that promote an alternate perception to analyzing situations and making the best possible decision when met with adversity. We also want to emphasize the importance of excelling in school as well as improving the social skills necessary to maintain a productive and healthy lifestyle. Activities in our program include after-school clubs and community engagement events such as participation in the 21st Century program, STEAM programs and workshops, chess clubs, mental health seminars, weekend retreats, and mobile learning opportunities in the community. We are always excited to welcome new volunteers, mentees, contributors, partners. We invite you all to visit www.mentoringmightyminds.org for more information and follow us on social media and YouTube @mentoringmightyminds.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston is an amazing city. If you are coming for a week trip then there are a few spots we most go.

1) The Galleria – It is on of Houston’s greatest attractions. From the luxurious shops to the fine dining. It is a must see.
2) The Aquarium/Zoo/Museums – I put all of these in one category because, it can all be done in a day or two.
3) Downtown – Doesn’t really matter where you go, just say I was in downtown Houston is enough!!
4) Sports Complex – Whether it’s the Toyota Center, Minute Maid, NRG, or where the Dynamo play, you have to claim a Houston game. At least 1!!!
5) Ride the Beltway – If you are in the city of Houston, you have to understand how big this city is. So plan a 2 hour journey along the beltway, to go around the entire city! Good Luck!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give all glory and honor to the Almighty God our Father in Heaven. The relationship my parents had allowed me to build a loving relationship with them in the Lord. I am so grateful for my family, encouraging me every step along the way. I am forever in their debt. To my parents, Aaron and Marcella Boudreaux, my loving sisters, Andrea, and Angela, and my 3 nephews, Isaiah, Samuel, and David. Much Love!!
