We had the good fortune of connecting with Tarris Marie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tarris, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
God called me to create. I am driven to inspire others to pursue their dreams and to leave a legacy for my children and descendants. Storytelling lives in my soul, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share my art with the world.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I had to pivot from my corporate career after becoming legally blind at almost forty years old. I hit an all-time low in my life, but God told me to get up and write a book. I started writing Juneteenth 2020 and went to acting school, and now, I am a published author of two novels, and a working actress with more projects on the way. I’ve learned to let nothing stop me from pursuing my dreams.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would go to the Breakfast Klub, visit the Museum of Fine Arts, attend a play in the Museum District, shop at The Galleria, and take a walk in Hermann Park.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank God, my heavenly grandparents, my husband Geno, my children Landon and Milan, my family, my sister friends, my sands of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., my readers, Black Odyssey Media, Page Parkes Talent Agency, and my writing coach Bruce McAllister.
