We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Destiny, why did you pursue a creative career?
Being a stay at home mom is a rewarding but tough job. Sometimes you can lose yourself caring for others and being closed off. Makeup and YouTube gave me an outlet to express myself and my creative side by letting me be me. Creating different looks with makeup and hair was something I didn’t know I enjoyed doing until I started. I’ve been passionate about it ever since.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made in the beauty industry. I’ve been into makeup since 2015 and it has been a wonderful experience. Being in the beauty community made me want to get further into the beauty and fashion industry so much so that I started my own businesses. I have a makeup line. Beauty Beats Cosmetics and a clothing boutique. Houston Slay Boutique. I’m so excited to share the things I love with people who enjoy what I enjoy. I’ve come so far in my career from learning how to do my own makeup to now owning two businesses.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Women like Jackie Aina, Ms. Ashely Devonna (Ashley d beauty when I discovered her), Aaliyah jay, Ellarie, and Alissa Ashley, just to name a few were the women who inspired me to be myself and virtually taught me my makeup skills from their videos.
