We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Townsend and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favorite quotes is from Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” This quote resonates deeply with me because it emphasizes the importance of faith and surrender. It reminds me that, in moments of uncertainty or difficulty, trusting in a higher power and letting go of the need to have everything figured out is key. It encourages me to have faith that, even when I don’t understand the reasons behind certain situations, there is a purpose and a path that will unfold in due time. What I love about this quote is its message of peace—it invites me to release anxiety and control, and to trust that things will work out as they are meant to. It serves as a grounding reminder to remain patient and faithful, even when I can’t see the bigger picture
What should our readers know about your business?
Our business is more than just a volleyball club; it’s a community and a platform for growth—both for athletes and individuals. What sets us apart is our larger vision: we have big goals to impact the community by fostering personal development, spreading kindness and joy, and giving opportunities to people who might not otherwise have access. We’re not just focused on athletic excellence, but on creating well-rounded individuals who can make a difference in their communities. We want to expose people to their potential and empower them to see their future—both on and off the court—and, most importantly, to pay it forward and continue the cycle of support and growth.
The journey to where I am today hasn’t been easy. It’s been filled with challenges, including financial hurdles, finding the right team, and staying consistent in the face of setbacks. There were times when it felt like it would never come together, but I overcame these challenges by staying focused on the bigger picture and remaining committed to my vision. My faith in God has been a constant source of strength, as well as the support of my family and key mentors who helped me stay grounded and push through.
Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and the power of community. I’ve also realized that success isn’t just about reaching your goals—it’s about the people you impact along the way. The lessons of patience, perseverance, and the value of collaboration have been instrumental in building this business.
What I want the world to know about our brand is that we are committed to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where individuals are encouraged to grow and reach their full potential, both as athletes and as people. Our mission is to build a legacy that transcends sports, one where kindness, joy, and opportunity are shared freely, and the impact is felt far beyond the game.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d start by taking them to La Taqueria Pueblita in Pearland for amazing tacos, then head to The Dugout for some arcade and sports games fun. For a great meal, we’d hit up Saltgrass Steak House for a delicious steak. I’d also make sure we check out some local coffee shops, art galleries, and maybe even a park. For something active, we’d try bowling or mini golf. To wrap up, we’d relax with drinks at a local bar or brewery, and maybe finish with an escape room or go-kart racing for a fun send-off.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout first and foremost to God, who has given me the position and opportunities to accomplish such a huge task. He placed this vision on my heart, and through staying obedient to Him, I’ve been able to move forward with purpose and determination.
I also want to give a huge shoutout to my husband, Trey. He has been incredibly supportive throughout this whole process. From working long hours to coming home and filming, editing, and posting my events on social media, he has truly gone above and beyond. Trey has taken on a larger role with our children so that I can focus on my work, even placing his own dreams and goals on the back burner to fully support me. I am so grateful for his sacrifices and the love he continues to give me, which makes all of this possible.
I’d like to thank Thomas as well for being an initial investor in my vision. He took a risk on me and helped get us started, and I’m so appreciative of his belief in what we were trying to create.
Lastly, I can’t forget my parents, especially Stacie and Monica. Their support in the first season was vital to getting us off the ground. I owe them so much and I’m thankful for their continued encouragement. All of these people, along with others in my life, have made this journey possible, and I’m forever grateful for their love, support, and belief in me.
