We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Armstrong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risks have played MAJOR role in my career and honestly, they still are today. I’d rather go to bed knowing that I choose to bet on myself every single day than to live in the fear of not trying or the what ifs. I took the risk to leave the comfort of my hometown because I knew more was out there for me. I took the risk to quit my job in 2021 and start my own business. I took the risk to move my successful business to another state to expand my brand. It takes fearlessness to be first. If you’re not willing to bet on yourself, others will be reluctant to as well.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m super excited to finally bring my personal chef services and my gourmet southern-style food truck, Brunch Me Please, to Houston! Although I’m from Florida, I originally opened the business in New Mexico. That’s where I was living at the time and felt bringing my fine dining experience mixed with the southern cuisine of my food truck would be a successful move and it was.
I think what sets myself and the food truck apart from others is not only the quality of food but the consistency and creativity that comes along with it. Also, no one is a stranger to us. When you book a private dinner or a catering or patronize the food truck, you are at home. We welcome you with open arms. The community is so important to us because they are truly the backbone of the city.
How did we get to where we are today? Again, that goes back to taking risk. But I always knew being a Chef and owning a food truck was something I wanted to do. There became a time in my life where all the hard work I was putting in for other company’s, I wanted to do it for myself. I’m putting the work in so why not reap the benefits of financial freedom as well. Now was it easy?? Heck no! It takes a lot of faith to do this. Some days it may look like you have no clue which direction you’re doing in but you have to keep going. You have to be a little… insane if you know what I mean. In a good way of course. That’s what entrepreneurship is. Believing and seeing your vision when no one else can and still making it happen. Many lessons are learned along the way too. But that’s all apart of the journey.
The world needs to know that Chef Andrea and Brunch Me Please are just getting started. I’m not just building a food truck or private chef service, I’m building a legacy. One that’s here to grow into a multimillion dollar brand, give back to the communities and help provide the necessary tools for other entrepreneurs to achieve their goals.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friends were here in town for one week we’d definitely eat at Brunch Me Please everyday since Houston is the only place it’s currently available and it’s their favorite. We’ll hit up a Rockets game for sure! Maybe a rooftop bar for the views, and whatever else they may be into. Don’t forget I’m still new to the city lol.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my friends and family. They support me from all over the United States. My immediate family lives in Jacksonville, Florida. Then, I have family and friends who support me all over from Los Angeles to Houston to New Mexico to Oklahoma. I’m very thankful for everyone’s support and prayers throughout this journey.
