We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra O’dell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sierra, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most Important lesson I’ve learned in my business is how big of a role professionalism and keeping a good rapport with people is so important. I have been in business for 10 years and my professionalism, connections and keeping good bridges that has took me far in my business. You can be the most talented person out there but without a good attitude, professionalism you will not get too far. I tell people that you never know who you will be in the same room with one day. Reputation is everything and it’s a small world!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from everyone else besides being a hair and makeup artist is creating an experience for my clients! My love for content creation and creating a vibe is something that I take a lot of pride in and enjoy doing to really showcase the behind the scenes.

I’m most proud of the connections that I have made in my industry and because of them I started a podcast (BO$$’N BIZ & BEAUTY Podcast) summer of 2022 to give artists, creatives and entrepreneurs their flowers! To be behind the mic has been one of the most rewarding ventures thus far and getting ready to reboot the show after a year off I’m looking forward to telling more stories and giving some good gems!

I believe I got where I am today through hard work, building great intentional connections, and my passion for what it is that I love. No it was not easy, but what allows me to overcome challenges is truly the love and passion that I have, when you have those two things you honestly are unstoppable and will constantly remembering your WHY!

Some lessons I’ve learned along the way is clients not only book me for my good hair and makeup work, but it’s the experience and vibe that attracts them and has allow me to stay very busy!

Something that I want the world to know is seven years ago I was not in a good place in life and had to get myself out of some dark times. I had to remember my purpose and change my mindset! I read a book think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill and that was where my journey truly started for me again. It’s all about mindset, staying consistent and being persistent. So the person you see here today has done the work and put in the time and want to inspire others to do the same no matter where they are in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is such a hard question to answer because as a busy woman and a mom of two I’m usually not out very often BUT I honestly would encourage a nice camping trip! It’s something about nature and being able to disconnect to reconnect that truly fuels my soul.

I’m typically not a club person I’m more of a lounge and a big foodie so wherever the vibe is right and the ambience is set, I’m all about those types of outings!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special shout to my community and clients that has supported me throughout my career! I just celebrated 10 years as a licensed cosmetologist this December and cannot believe how fast 10 years has flown by! With everyone’s love and support it has allowed those bad days to be better and the good days to be even greater! I want to give a SPECIAL shout to my photographer Law (@Lawvision_) for getting me out my comfort zone this year after my relocation from Las Vegas and going through a divorce. It was hard getting my wheels turning again, but In August I took a big step with getting in front of the lens as his model vs behind the chair and it was exactly what I needed! We’ve done some amazing work together and have been published in 4 Magazines so far.
