We had the good fortune of connecting with Celeste Potter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Celeste, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had a personal injury about 5 years ago and that led to multiple surgeries and therapies. Those led me to finding alternate options for pain relief and treating my body better by putting good things in it. This all led me to wanting a wellness emporium. A place where others could find wellness based coffee, tea, products and services. There isn’t anything like it, so I had to create it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been anything but linear, and that’s what makes it so fulfilling. I started in healthcare administration in 1999 with the dream of becoming a doctor. I worked hard, completed my prerequisites, and finished graduate school. Along the way, I enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving six years as a healthcare specialist—better known as a medic—while continuing my work with Dr. Mila McManus, where I’ve been since 2011.

My time in the Army taught me resilience and how to care for others under immense pressure. Working with Dr. McManus opened my eyes to a different side of healthcare. In the ER, I saw frustration and sadness, often focused on stabilizing life-threatening situations. But at her wellness practice, I witnessed hope and transformation—patients experiencing life-changing results. That experience shaped my belief in the power of wellness-focused care and planted the seed for Serenity Sips.

In addition to healthcare, I’ve always had a passion for helping others in other ways, from launching small businesses to offering consulting and support with management, marketing, and operations. However, a personal injury forced me to scale back my efforts and focus on my own recovery. During that challenging time, Dr. McManus and my family were my greatest supporters. Their unwavering encouragement and understanding gave me the strength to heal and rediscover my purpose.

The journey hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned that setbacks can lead to incredible opportunities for growth. Thanks to their support, I’m here today, able to be a part of something as beautiful as Serenity Sips. This space represents a blending of my experiences and passions—a family-centered, wellness-focused place where people can find community, joy, and renewal.

I want the world to know that Serenity Sips is more than a café or wellness center; it’s a testament to resilience, hope, and the people who help us along the way. Every cup, every experience, and every connection here is rooted in love, family, and the belief that health and happiness should be accessible to all.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d make sure they experienced the best of our local history, charm, and unique spots. We’d start the trip at Serenity Sips—it’s the perfect place to relax with amazing coffee and explore wellness offerings that really set the tone for the week.

Next, we’d head to Old Town Spring, one of my favorite places. We love going on ghost walks there because it’s such a fun way to learn about the history of the area. Those tours have taught us so much about the rich stories behind the quaint streets and we would have to go during day as well to shop at the incredible small businesses that make it such a special place.

For some live entertainment, we’d visit Main Street Theater to watch an Elvis tribute show hopefully —it’s always a good time and adds a little nostalgia to the trip. And when it’s time to eat, we’d absolutely stop at Goode Company for a meal and their unforgettable pecan pie, which is one of my all-time favorites. There really are so many places in The Woodlands to choose from.

We’d also take a day trip to Galveston. The mix of history, coastal views, and vibrant energy makes it a great getaway. We could walk along The Strand, visit the historic Pleasure Pier, or even explore some of the island’s fascinating historic homes and museums.

While I’m not a big wine drinker, I’d recommend a visit to B.E. Winery, owned by a local police officer. It’s a wonderful spot with a welcoming atmosphere, and it’s always great to support businesses that are deeply rooted in our community.

At the end of the week, we’d wrap things up by revisiting favorite spots or discovering a few new hidden gems. Whether it’s exploring the past on a ghost walk, savoring delicious pecan pie, or taking in the charm of Galveston, I’d make sure their visit was packed with history, great food, and unique experiences that highlight everything I love about this area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has been the heart and soul behind Serenity Sips. From the very beginning, they’ve been there, pouring their love, time, and energy into making this dream a reality. Each member has contributed in their unique way—whether it’s brainstorming ideas, helping with the day-to-day operations, or just being a constant source of encouragement. My vision for Serenity Sips was inspired by our shared love for creating memories together and was deeply influenced by a personal injury that taught us the value of wellness and community. This is more than a business; it’s a family legacy built on love, resilience, and a commitment to bringing people together in a space where they can relax, renew, and feel at home. Serenity Sips exists because of my family, and I’m endlessly grateful for their support.
